Excessive Oil Consumption (2011 Superb 1.8 TSi)

Featured Replies

Hi, I bought a Superb 1.8 TSi in April 2015... I had to fill up with oil about a month after receiving the car, but put that down to the garage not filling it correctly. Then across the last couple of months, oil consumption has increased dramatically. I now consume about 5L in around 800 miles.

A local garage has taken a quick look and can't see any sign of a leak, and it doesn't look like there's much residue in the turbo, exhaust or connectors and pipes. It's going into a dealer shortly to assess the situation, just wondered whether this was a well known issue - or a one-off. I found another thread about this with a similar car a couple of years ago, but not much more recently than that.

Has anyone else had a similar issue resolved?

It must be leaving a cloud behind it

is it smoking like peterposh said? if it's not doing that then it must be leaking slowly, i had a problem once, where the car only leaked when driving, causing the oil to "swim" to the back of the car, not leaving any signs of leaks or puddles.

This is the well-known 1.8 and 2.0 TSI oil consumption problem. Solution is new pistons and piston rings. Google for TSI oil consumption...

Bad news on a modern car , unacceptable really

Warranty time

OP doesnt state if it was new or 2nd hand...
