coolant temperature

Featured Replies

Own car Fabia Combi 2009 no heat index , but there is a led flashing at high coolant temperature , I bought two weeks ago OBDII Bluetooth to detect errors. And I not found errors, but noted that the coolant temperature reaches 110  to operate the Radiator fan, then check the fan show it one speed only , is this normal on fabia 2

On mine, turn ignition on from cold. The red/blue light comes on and upon starting, will be blue for a few miles or so, weather dependant. It then goes off and supposedly will come on in its red state,  if temperature goes too high. The fan should come on before this though. That temperature MIGHT be a little high, not too sure but the fan should definitely come on BEFORE warning light. If fan is working but not coming on early, check fluid level as low fluid often stops fans kicking in as they read temperature from the water. No water, no reading. Also, is your model made for your climate? You may need better coolant and a different thermostat to me. (U.K.) As your avatar says you are in Egypt. At 2009, you may actually be due new coolant anyway, if its not already been changed recently. Long lasting coolant usually has lifespan of 5 years. Remember, the coolant not only helps lower the temperature, preventing the water from boiling away, it also stops the fluid freezing to a certain point. This will help prevent engine damage from ice expanding inside the engine and possibly cracking it!

Also, the coolant contains rust inhibitors, which help keep the internal parts clean and waterways flowing. I assume Egypt can go from very hot to very cold in a little space of time. (Night and day). So you are going to want a good quality product. Don't fill it with water and think you'll "Get away with it for a few months" As you won't. You will cause more harm then good!

Thank you very help, obviously you know Egypt well  :D . I check the refrigeration cycle and all are good but the problem is that the fan working when the temperature of 110  by OBD II ,this  may naturally temperature reaches 110 or there is a problem with the fan or the thermostat , I went today to the technician. Li said that there is no problem because The red led light not comes, really I am not convinced that , I myself checked fan. The fan operates at one speed only does not 2 speed , Is this the problem or I misfiled

thank you for help

one speed only. At least in U.K.

Check the fan thermoswitch just above where the bottom hose joins to the radiator. Two wires and it's a single speed fan, three wires and it's two speed.

Check for blown fuses in the battery-top fusebox. Low speed is probably a 30 amp blade fuse under a cover.

Worth checking fuses first, and you can also test the fan on each speed by linking pins 1-2 and 1-3 on the connector which plugs onto the thermoswitch (with ignition switched on).

There might also be a fan control unit, which is a small black plastic box with a couple of relays inside, hanging off the bodywork near to the thermoswitch. Check the wiring and connections to that if you have one.

has been check the bin of fan direct,  linking pins 1-2 not working  linking 1-3 working
