Windscreen cleaning (inside)

Featured Replies

I just thought I'd post up about this product http://www.wurth.co.uk/technical-chemicals/cleaning-and-care-materials/glass-cleaners/active-window-glass-cleaner-500ml

I know it's for outside, but I wanted to give my interior windscreen a good cleaning due to smearing. I have always found it hard to completely clean the windscreen inside so I decided to try this product, the screen was spotless after it.

Obviously with it being foam you can't spray it directly onto the inside of the screen ( its messey), so I sprayed it only a cloth, wiped the screen, left for a few seconds and wiped with a towel. All the greasey smear marks (I assume from the dashboard oils) were removed.

Honestly it was as clean as the day I picked the car up new.

I've tried various products before. It was definitely the easiest I've tried.

I've always found chemical cleaners look good at first, then streaks appear a week or so later.

I find the best way to clean windows is a bowl of warm water with just a drop or two of dish detergent. Use a soft lint free towel (not a paper towel) to wipe it down, then another to dry. No streaks, it stays clean for months, it's cheap, and it's safe for tint.

I've always been a fan of Auto Glym Glass Polish. Leaves the surface streak free also.

Bit of a bugger if you get on the awkward places on the dash however.

Thanks for the recommendation - one to look out for.

As per ^^^above - AG Glass polish is consistently very good also; but can be a bit dusty on buffing.

Although i think its been reformulated in recent years to improve/reduce this small downside;

but always great for leaving the interior glass perfectly clean and streak free.

+1 used this (Fast Glass) on my previous Mk7 GTD and was perfect afterwards. Need to do my new one...after 5.5k miles its pretty terrible!

AG fastglass on the inside and outside.

If you are worried about getting the Product on the dash, put a towel on the dash before spraying

Its good stuff :-)

Car Plan screen clean works okay.

Big fan of AG Glass Polish on the outside. Just discovered Invisible Glass, and it's fantastic on the inside and outside. No streaks or smears.

Nothing wrong with Mr Muscle window cleaner or Windolene :-)

I fine anything by AG is very good :)

Im with tom.

Yep just ordinary household window cleaner. But Use one of those cleaning pads on a hinged stick. £1 shops etc sell them. Couple of sheets of kitchen paper folded over it. Saves stretching, and reaches into most places

I have tried Windowlene, Vinegar, Autoglym Fast Glass, and a couple of other cleaners. It's a few weeks since I cleaned the windows, and can honestly say it's stayed streak free, no dust and is definitely the cleanest I have ever had a windscreen.

Simples, warm water with a good splash of white vinegar. Cuts through any film or grease and dries streak free - and it's cheap.

Happy Xmas

I've used Würth active glass cleaner for a few years and IME it's better than anything else I've used before including a lot of what's been mentioned and some others. One downside, it's not that cheap.

Merry Christmas.

That Wurth stuff is brilliant. When I had my windows tinted, he used this. He said it's the best and quickest by far.

I may order some when my AG window cleaner has run out, but the AG stuff is tops of my list.

Wurth Active is on Amazon - one deal is 6 x 500 ml cans for £28.34 post free.  From RBM Supplies

Just seen this one and I would like to put a tight Yorkshireman's solution forward.

Warm water with a few drops of white vinegar in it.

Put on with a wetted cloth.

Dry off with a clean dry cloth.

Done
