Oh the temptation of another vRS!

Featured Replies

I am miles away from my dealer, they sent me the VW service document which says I only need get the servicing done at a participating partner. If I need to take it back to the dealer my order will probably be cancelled.

I have my car on PCH.

I bought through CarWow just before Christmas, all they did was put me in touch with a dealer who then took my part ex (on pcp) and completed the sale with a few freebies on top, with the option of the usual service plan, gap insurance and the free breakdown cover. Oh and it's not much but CarWow gave me a £20 Amazon gift card, was able to buy myself a couple of car essentials.

Would certainly recommend at least looking at what they can do, it may be that there are no local dealers bidding for your business but you never know.

My car is on a 7k miles pa, PCP, it's on 15k already, the PCP runs until November. At the current rate of usage I'll end up paying a considerable penalty for over the 21k mileage limit.

That's still a tiny cost compared to starting again on a new PCP, especially if you have to put any money in to the deposit yourself.

Have you actually worked out how much your expected final mileage will be, and what the excess charge will be?

For me putting several K down on a PCP as deposit just doesnt make sense...unless you have every intention of keeping it at the end and want to benefit from the 0% borrowing.

Putting a big deposit down to make a monthly payment more reasonable on a car or to cover negative equity....id suggest you are probably better off to run the PCP to near end of term then PX or hand back to VWFS and cover the excess mileage.

Going by your reckoning that you'll be doing circa. 30% over your agreed 21k mileage allowance....that'll be less than £500. I think the excess mileage is something like 7.2p/mile so every 10k is £720....that really isnt alot of money in the grand scheme of things....certainly less than finding nearly £6k to basically end up driving the exact same thing again albeit with a few more toys.

Its your money and your decision of course but personally and if it were my own decision I wouldnt consider the change as good common sense.....youve really got to want the new car with additional spec to essentially burn several K and start a new contract.

Oweing to their pretty woeful residuals I dont think Ill be entering into another PCP agreement with Skoda on an Octavia any time soon unless of course I was dead set on seeing the term out or buying it by some means at the end.

My understanding is that the Skoda service plan you buy with the new car allows you to get done servicing at any official Skoda Garage, not just the you bought it from. I bought the plan specifically because I had this confirmed by the selling dealership.

Others... Am I right or have I been cheated?!

Sorry don't worry. It was just my limited knowledge of the servicing plan.

I did not fully look into it as when my local garage priced up the servicing the 'service plan' was about the same as paying for a minor-major-minor service individually. I am cashing my purchase so I would rather not pay another £500 upfront and just pay a smaller amount yearly for 3 years when the services crop up..

Not as yet, but it's going to be way over the 21k limit at the current rate of consumption.

Excess mileage only comes in to play if you're handing the car back at the end of your PCP term.  At least that's what my Salesman told me anyway.  So excess mileage for a trade-in would be 'dealt with' by the dealer.  I'd clarify that if I were you.

I'd be handing the car back and starting again on a fresh PCP.

Running the car to end of term and paying the excess would be far cheaper than starting again right now.

That said come end of term you may be able to PX the car for what it owes, maybe a little more regardless of the additional miles (assuming the dealer really wants to do a deal) so you might not have to bear the excess charges at all anyway.

That said if you really want the new car and/or you end up having a dealer knawing your arm off with a deal thats too good to refuse then why not :-)

Well, I succumbed to the idea.

New one on order, but this will be my last one.

The spec is:

TSi 220 DSG in Quartz Grey

Black design package plus (Includes 19-inch Xtreme alloy wheels (7.5 x 19-inch with 225/35 R19 88Y tyres and anti-theft wheel bolts), sunset glass, colour Maxi DOT)

Adaptive Cruise

Winter Pack (Heated front seats, Heated windscreen, Washers)

Folding mirrors

Kessy

Parking Assist.

Autoglym & Bodywork repair package

I decided to drop the 3 years servicing part, at £528 which works out at £176 per service, I think I can get it done cheaper than that and I was told that if I didn't it would be on a 20k service regime, well that's going to at 16-18 months into ownership, so that'll be OK and I won't be giving away a free service to anyone else.

Delivery is expected in Mid May (18-19 Weeks).
