Columbus now German! HELP

Featured Replies

My Columbus unit has started up in German. No music on HDD and looks like it has factory reset.

I have tried the following to fix it:

1. Settings>Language>English - this gets the response (in German) that the selected language is loading, but this screen does not progress.

2. Reset via settings - This gives the same message as above and has the same result

4. 3 button reset (<> and mic buttons) - this seems to have no effect at all other than it restarts the system - but still in German.

I suspect that my battery is low (it is a greenline and the engine off function at standstill rarely kicks in). But the car starts so I cant see it really effecting the Columbus.

Reading the forum posts similar to this, it seems that I could do a reinstall of firmware and maps. But I have no map disks.

A. Is there an alternative way of getting this to work

B. Where can I get maps (not silly costs!)

To be honest, I dont care about the satnav as I use a different one due to maps being out of date. But I want my radio back and I don't sprechen Deutsch (much)

PS - out of warrantee :(

Thanks

Same for us - switched on car on Sat am and it's all reverted to German. We are in Australia. Just rang Skoda today who put me through to service centre. They have had a case recently where same thing happend & they said they need to reload the satnav system, will take a couple of hours & it should be ok. Problem is, we live 5 hours away from the Skoda service centre so will have to wait til end of March now to get this updated...the silence in the car is deafening!!

Had exactly the same issue , with the same symptoms, 2 years ago on the 2011 Octavia II. Had to get the service centre to reload the system. As Sheedy says it takes a couple of hours. Fortunately was within warranty.

If there the culprit is not a HW fault, a SW upgrade should fix the problem.

Post your current SW/HW versions (consult the secret menu) and maybe we can suggest a specific SW version to download and install.

Under certain circumstances a SW upgrade may keep the map data intact.
