Superb Hatch Quick Review

Well, after driving back from Preston this afternoon, couple more observations, well four actually. So redditch to Preston up the M6 returned 53mpg and I was making excellent progress. Impressive. Return journey across mid Wales. Returned 45 and I wasn't really pushing it, disappointing. Worse, when I did push it, it really is slow. Gap between 3rd and 4th is too big, and it's just not enough grunt per kilo. I knew that of course, but in reality it's frustrating. Disappointing.

Finally, I got to chuck it about a bit, and it grips well, and despite the soft set up it doesn't bump steer or wash out stupidly. Impressive for such a big comfy bus. Impressive.

It would be useful if your profile said which engine you are talking about.

Reminds me of my Morris Minor

'lazy'?

Maybe I simply don't wish to broadcast the specific car that I own.

Ah I see. I respect that.

Got the 2.0 150 DSG here.

+Very impressed with the smoothness of the drive and the lightness of how it feels, even when going slowly.

+ Automatic volume reduction when reversing or doing tricky manouevres (had to negotiate a pretty vicious set of 6'6 width restriction posts today)

+/- Canton stereo quite good, but maybe lacking oomf for loud sections.

+ Everyone loves the umbrellas (but haven't tested their impermeability yet!)

Haven't pushed it yet (still running-in)

- The interior is a bit plasticky and some things move too much when you push them (eg. the seat memory buttons) but that's not a major issue for me

- The phone box is a bit mean in size - won't hold my iPhone 6+ in its wallet with a lightning connector plugged in, but I'm not so fussed as I don't really want the phone in the box - I would like instant access to the screen, so just leave it on top.

Still much to explore, particularly the infotainment system - will it remember my phone this morning?!

I need to get the "read out the text message" thing working.

About the complaint towards Smart Light Assist. It's nit suppose to change from high beam to low, but it smartly turns the driver side light lower so it would not dazzel the on comer. Tell me that Im wrong :D

Correct. Sort of, what happens is a mask slides across the high beam to cut off the portion to the right and ahead if need be. It's pretty neat actually.
