Is there a trick to filling up with diesel?

Featured Replies

I only ever fully fill the car. It takes only a very small extra time to do it then than find another station at a later date!

I never get the whole I'll stick a tenner in as you spend your life at the petrol station!

I have a planned 500+ miles a week every week, anything less than a fill is tedious

I never had a problem filling mine, but if I keep filling after it clicks more than 2 to 3 times I have noticed the needle seems to stick on full, or should I say just past full... I can then do 100-120 miles before it decides to move then drops quite a bit in one go..

I find filling a pain the a--e. Brim it and run it until empty. Fill to first click stop pull out the nozzle and trickle in another few litres.

filling no problem

paying, much pain

I also prefer to have full tank ;) but if you do only city - short runs home <-> work - there is no reason for extra 50kg unnecessary weight ;)

No problem filling mine.

Then again, my previous car (a not missed at all BMW 525d estate) was a total pain in the ass unless you held the nozzle half way in and with the bottom of the filler gun handle at the 8 o'clock position.

Out of habit - I have realised I fill the Superb exactly the same way.

So, this is yet more proof that my Superb is every bit the equal of my BMW - it just doesn't insist on an extra €30,000 euro on the purchase price for the privilege of annoying me   :p
