Abs wheel sensor problem?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

My 2010 Superb 2.0tdi 170 Elegance Estate is showing warning lights for abs, tcs/esp & tyre pressure.

I think the probable cause is a faulty wheel sensor or associated wiring but would like to know if anybody knows of a way to check for the exact cause without having to remove the wheels etc and no vcds.

Thanks. J T.

Hi JT - if it's just flashing on the dash, holding down the tyre pressure button by the gearstick for about 3 seconds should turn them off/reset the system. Do it as you drive forward a few meters and hopefully it should reset (assuming you haven't got some flat tyres of course) :)

If that doesn't work I'm not sure what else to advise....hope you get it sorted.

Hi Dave. I've had the tyre pressure warning before and reset it but this time the abs and tcs/esp lights are also on. I've just been out to drop my son into Birmingham centre which is about a 25ml round trip and after only half a mile or so all the warning lights went off. Great, I thought, but then the car did a few stutters and the abs light flashed on and off each time it did. The car then went for about 5ml with no problems, then a few more stutters/ flashing abs light. I thought it might just be dirt or something on one of the wheel sensors so decided to return home via the motorway to see if it would blow out any muck, but the lights have all come back on again.

I still think it is a sensor problem so will have to check them one at a time for debris or damage unless anybody has an easy solution for me to try.

Thanks for your reply anyway Dave.

John.

As with any error light there is no point in trying to guess what it is, you need to get the fault codes read and this will more than likely take you directly to the route cause.

Hi

May  I ask you what was the cause of turned on both abs and tcs warning light?

Today when I drive to home turned on both warning light after some minutes turned off. This happened three times until I arrived to home.
