I think a VTS is quicker from a standing start to 100, but the difference is slight. The Fabia will 'do it' mid range and the brakes are much better than a VTS. A stock Fabia will do a 16.5 1/4 mile and a VTS will do a 15.8 1/4.

The real test will be in the drivers though, better hope your mate drives like a ponce ;) The VTS is the daddy around the bends, so don't try and keep up - lol.

Welcome to the forum BTW.

Saxo 0-100 = 22.4

Fabia 0-100 = 25

Yeah, but the Saxo is a pile of crap at everything else though. My Sister has one and it IS Sh*te. Everything is creaky and very, very plastic. She's had hers for 3 years and i've a mate who has had all the same woes.... In the real world, the Skoda is a much better car.

But with a few mods like the PD160 intake and green filter, SMIC mod, and CC stage 2 remap should a vRS knock the socks off a VTS?

As for the twisties I can say the VTS is top of the pops, but the vRS with some matched dampers and springs/uprated antiroll bars and even bigger brakes should help things along just nicely.

I can vouch for a Koni/Eibach lowering setup (adjusted for a bit stiffer than normal). Very predictable slides during hard cornering, minimal body roll.

Eats Mini Coopers for breakfast on the twisties. Get a remap (bargain AMD one-click Group buy on for this week only!) and it'll eat Cooper 'S' s as well!

As for VTS, it may be TOTP, but there's a new entry, straight in at Number 1.....

John, ;)

Even modded the vRS has nothing on the 106 GTi\Saxo VTS on the bends - absolute pile of **** but handles forking fantastic

Take him for a ride, let him feel the torque and tell him to go back to his toy car and drive as fast as he wants.

Get a life all of you. There will NEVER be any contest between a Fabia vRS and a Citroen Saxo !!

Couldn't agree more, bloke at work had one, nasty cheap brittle plastics.....horrible:thumbdwn:

Well said Chris, I was being VERY honest with my remarks earlier. Who cares how it handles, it's rubbish. End of. I've got a shopping trolley with a Jet engine attached, goes like stink, corners like it's on rails, but the plastics are brittle, gearbox is crap, heater doesn't work properley, interior is abismal, but the styling is way better than a Saxo.:rofl:

So a modded Fabia will beat a Saxo? Try modding the Saxo and it will once again beat the Fabia ;)

At the end of the day, the Fabia FEELS quick, whereas the lightweight petrol Saxo is slightly faster but doesn't feel it as it lacks the torque.

An Octy vRS will of course eat a Saxo :D :D

In a straight line :o

A standard one ;) Strapping a supercharger on them makes them pretty nippy ;)

It seems that whenever anyone rates the Fabia, you always have a go at it ? Why would anyone want to Mod a Saxo, it's crap, and it's an insult to all these guys who have bought a Fabia vRS to rate the Saxo against it. Behave.

Horses for courses......

Every car has benifits and shortfalls.

Having driven both, they are completely different and not really in the same class.

One of the things you've got to remember is the VTS was released in Jan 97, thats 6 1/2 earlier than the Fabia VRS - As you all well know a lot happens in 6 years in the automotive industry.

Handling the VTS is by far better than the Fabia, however....

You don't have to rev the tits off the Fabia,

You get massive mid range punch,

It's larger and better built than the saxo

It's got 5 doors.

And I'd never go back.

Before you totally knock the saxo, just look at the prices for a 53 plate model compared to a 53 plate fabia VRS (if you can get one).

There's about 4 grand difference, and

And it seems that whenever anyone mentions a non-Skoda car you slate it and call it "crap". I'm just balancing out the opinions ;)

I've driven a Saxo VTR and a Fabia vRS. The Saxo was by far the better driver's car and was very chuckable with go-kart handling anda nice torquey (for a petrol) engine and was far from "crap".

Chris

I drove my mate's VTS when I had an Integra type R. Bearing in mind the very high bench mark I was very impressed with the little frenchie

its all monkey really

i know which i'd rather have it ain't no tractor, why are mini-me octavia wannabe drivers so touchy?

why are mini-me octavia wannabe drivers so touchy?

I'M NOT F***ING TOUCHY, ALRIGHT? ;)

Probably for the same reason that grandad octy drivers are so snobbish

because we know were better?

because we know were better?

No it's jealousy

Keep it nice people!

I owned to saxo VTS and to be honest both were carp reliabity wise!

Had in on the track and they are very quick cars, if citroen made them so they dont fall apart then they would be real corkers!
