Loose screen

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

I have a Skoda Superb SEL Executive 1.4 Tsi ACT on order and recently popped into my local dealer to satisfy myself that the interior quality was everything I need. I have previously viewed various models but just needed some reassurance.

I was, not surprisingly, quite happy and reassured. However, I did notice that the unit that has the touch screen could move around quite a bit. A number of people on Briskoda have also mentioned this.

I think the car had the Amundsden Sat Nav. (Sorry if that is spelt incorrectly).

What I want to know is whether this is a common issue, or is it meant to be like that? The one I looked at could move 4-5 mm, which I felt was excessive.

What have been the experiences of existing owners. Does the touch screen unit move, or is it just a few isolated cases?

Thanking you all.

Dean

No problems with the Amundsen system in my SE Business.

Does the SEL not come with the Columbus as standard though?

Hello Juvehero.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, you are quite correct, it does come with Columbus, but I didn't know whether the whole unit, including surround moved around regardless of the Sat Nav fitted.

From what you are saying regarding your car, it seems some are loose and others are not.....and yours is perfectly o.k.

I think I will get my dealer to look at this before handover, as I live in Birmingham and am picking the car up from Southampton!

Thanks again.

I have SEL 1.4 and the whole car is solidly built, screen is fine and easy to use.

I second that. My SEL Exec 1.4 is very solid and all switch gear and touchable surfaces are very tactile and satisfying to use. The screen is stationary and well built. Only the memory seat buttons are a bit too a a squishy at times but otherwise all is good.

Why didn't you order from Birmingham....?!

Only reason was that Birmingham dealers couldn't get anywhere near the deal that was being offered down south.

I will just take my time and enjoy the journey back!

Interesting.....I'll bear that in mind for next time. Enjoy the A34...will give you a good chance to see if the ACC works!

My screen surround has allways mmoved about when prodded, far to loose, when i mentioned it to the dealer the reply was thats how they are,bog standard reply (ive never had a car that does that) now after 4800 miles its squeaking like potty, driving me mad, going to book it in to be looked at.shame,my first fault, deep down i knew it would be an issue.hope this doesnt end up being a nightmare like my rejected as they gave up trying to cure the rattly sunroof octavia vrs.nothing worse than squeaks and rattles in my book.kevin.
