Not LifeShine..?

Featured Replies

I have just ordered a S3 Est 1.4150SE L. If I get a detailer to put new car paint protection on which is not Life Shine does it invalidate the Skoda paint warranty...? I just want a good job, & not sure Skoda dealer will do this for me.

Thanks

No

I had life shine as it was done foc, looks to be a decent jobs. Three washes later and still looks great.

I wouldn't let the dealer put any thing on, Pay a little more and find someone who knows what there doing.

as above I'd even ask dealer not to touch paint prior to handover otherwise a good detailer will need to spend time repairing damage caused by dealer at prep, ask on detailingworld forum.

A main dealer will not think twice about cleaning your pride and joy with a sponge that has been dropped 6 times picking up grit on every drop and rubbing said grit all over your new car paint work.

Anyone recomend a vood detailer for the new baby due early march north hampshire or camberley area

As per the above..... Money best spend with a Pro Detailer.

No warranty concerns, and overall you should see your new car look the best it can.

How far is Dooka Detailing from you?

Highly recommended. :)

In fairness my dealer did a very professional job with my car, after a month of crap weather, car still looks mint... & he threw it in for free! I suppose it depends on who is Valeting it, some have no interest....

+1 I wouldn’t even let them put water on it (wash it)!

Not close but not that far away either... Gillingham (Kent) has one of the best detailers in the UK.

Thanks Gillingham is not to far for me. Are they worth it, it's good to have recommendations

Dooka or KDS in Gillingham, Kent or look up a Gtechniq detailer near you.

The products available from dealerships are good products however most dealerships, sponge monkies don't know how to apply the products or allowed time to do so which means the product doesn't bond correctly and durability is greatly diminished.

VERY much so, personally Kelly is the only person I would take my car to (I have been on one of his detailing days and he previously did some paintwork on SWMBO’s TT , then a Crystal Serum protection on my current Superb)

Take a look at his work on his site and this is the results of my Superb:

Thanks, as ever I am on a budget. A Local detailer to me has quoted £270 for Gtechniq & £50 for inside. Was yours expensive?

Certainly not that cheap, but then the Crystal Serum requires 24 hrs curing between coats (4 coats) so took a week, the paintwork also needs to be in good condition before it is applied, despite being a couple of weeks old there were a couple of dealer marks in my paintwork.

This is the reply from Kelly from my initial email:

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your email.  I’m going to do a little bit of customer handling here and advise you on what you really need, and what’s best for you and the car.

Crystal Serum is a brand new product that, on all our tests, is proving to be by far the most durable coating we’ve ever seen.  Wet-sanding doesn’t remove it, so we would expect it to last for multiple years quite easily.  The advantage of the Crystal Serum upgrade (over the old C1) is very significant and even though the upgrade is £200, £150 of that is down to the price of the bottle of Crystal Serum itself.  However it’s £200 to upgrade on top of choosing GTechniq as an option, so you’d be talking £435 (which is £245 + the upgrade) on top of the £340 New Car Protection detail if you wanted to take that route.  See here: http://www.kdskeltec.co.uk/price-menu/optional-extras/g-techniq.  That’s obviously a bit daft, which is why we introduced the GTechniq Protection Detail.

What you actually need is our GTechniq Protection Detail + Crystal Serum upgrade.  As that already includes the GTechniq base, you only pay the upgrade for Crystal Serum and the total is therefore £635.  This includes Crystal Serum on all painted surfaces AND the wheels, giving very-long-term protection even in those vulnerable areas.  On top of that, we use GTechniq EXO as a finishing product which itself adds further long-term protection plus a more slippery smooth feel.  You also get the glass coated in GTechniq products, and the exterior trim as well (you don’t get all this on the New Car Protection detail).  From a value for money perspective, this is the superior choice.

Kind regards,

KDS
