2014 vRS TDI problems

Featured Replies

I have a 2014 vRS 2.0 TDI  and last week the air bag warning light remained on until I stopped and restarted the car.  And today on the motorway the engine kept jumping and then the glow plug light started flashing and then no power like in limp home mode,  again I stopped the car tuned off the engine restarted and the problem had gone.  Any ideas what is happening and why thanks.

Get it scanned for fault codes, don't take chances with airbag systems. Without fault codes it's guess work.

... or next time it goes into limp mode call out Skoda Assist, get a loan car and get yours taken to the dealer for investigation.

I wonder if it's an alternator fault. The reason I suggest it is I had a hire car (Toyota avensis) I drove up the m6 through so much water it started to disintegrate.

The front numberplate had delaminated and I saw something similar , airbag then abs the engine management. Called out the AA as the power steering went, by the time they arrived it had "fixed itself" - diag was water messing up the alternator causing a voltage drop.

Andyvee's suggestion is what I'd be doing - call out Skoda assist. Although the last time I did that the AA scraped all 4 alloys so I'd advise you watch them like a hawk.

Boost pressure sensor. It should have logged the fault. I would get it booked in.

As moggytech or AndyVee suggest get the dealer to read the fault codes.

The glow lamp will flash for any fault in the engine controller so without fault codes its impossible to diagnose.

Whilst the Boost Pressure sensor is a common fault on the TDI engine, the symptoms you describe sound more like an electrical connection or power supply problem.

If it sorts itself out after restarting, I would guess at a bad connection somewhere (maybe loose terminal on the battery or alternator) which may also explain the ABS warning light.

This exact same symptoms happened to me on the drive home today after work. Glow plug warning light began flashing and engine was clearly in limp mode.

Called Skoda Assist and they were faultless, arrived within 50 minutes during rush hour and replaced the boost pressure sensor at the road side.

Ive had similar problems on my 2014 vrs diesel, engine cutting out, sudden losses of power, glowbplug light has come on a few times etc.will look into getting the boost pressure sensor changed asap

@TimWhit - before you go and hit the parts-canon, please get a read of the CANBUS using ODBEleven Pro or VCDS.  This will tell you if it is that fault or whether it is something else.

Wouldn't like you to waste your money unnecessarily.
