Who Do People Insure With?

Featured Replies

Despite being assured that my new Outdoor Elegance 110ps 2WD

would be cheaper to insure than the 2012 Elegance my premium

remains the same with Skoda Insurance.

I don't want the cheapest if it means poor service so who do others insure with?

I'm with LV...£220 (last April) 140 SE Plus DSG 2012

there are so many variables to insurance

Mileage, commute, business, age, how many drivers, NCD, garaged, postcode .....to name a few

Privilege. Always cheapest for me both for my Superb and wife's Yeti - never had to claim though so can't comment on the service . . . .

Skoda Insurance, who are I think  is Alianze?? £210 F/c 2 drivers.

But you can pay monthly at no extra cost, which I have never done before, so it keeps your capital earning interest. For whats its worth.

IAM Surety. Need to be a member of the IAM.

Privilege with all the bells and whistles, and gf on insurance is £270 for l&K 1.4 on PCH. Good service so far on phone.

Sad as it is to tell - Saga, for the second year, before that Aviva. Last renewal back in August was £220.

Saga £174 just renewed.

Saga, as is Mrs Goldfinger

Skoda Insurance - Yeti

Direct Line - Passat

You cant't tell until you have to use them. No claims on Skoda and had about 3 with DL over 40+ years. They have always been excellent.

As said above, so many variables.

£180 with Caravan Club who insure through Devitt. I believe Devitt may have just linked up with LV.

Previously with Direct Line, Tesco, More Than and Saga.

Saga £174 just renewed.

At £220 for a 1.2 TSi I was robbed!!! Thanks Smokeyjoe - just ruined my evening!

IAM Surity for me.

Saga for my wife.

Both are due again next month so will see what it will cost for my new Yeti, and my wife's Citigo (should get it next week or so when cherished transfer is done).

Just run a comparison through Confused.com or similar

Admiral Multi Car for us (plus RTI Gap insurance).

Were you?

It is impossible to compare one persons figure against another's because there are too many variables.

Just some:

Post code

Drivers

Ages

Storage

Employment

History

My LV policy is due for renewal in the very near future. When I told them I was now retired and got a £30 reduction, but was warned that if I signed unemployed it would go back up by more than double that amount.

And Saga were more expensive than LV!

For info, it's £218 pa, including volunteer use and 90 days continental cover.

I loved the difference between 'retired' and 'unemployed'. When I was between jobs, and wasn't signing on I ticked the 'independent means' box - same premium as retired.

The explanation was that retirees are trustworthy, but the unemployed may not be...............................................................

Even just saying Bristol doesn't help as different post codes have different "risk" loadings.

St Pauls is worse than, say, Warmley

I am more Warmley than Bristol, Horace Batchelor country.

I'm with LV.  This years Ins. is £640, But

I guess that's due to factors of;

20000+ miles per year, West London post code, EU use, trailer use and any other they feel like adding.

Have got max NCD, no points and all clean.

Enquired with couple of others, Ouch!  all over £1000+

Mine is due March, I've been with NFU for the last 2 years but they want £365 so considering switching to Ageas at £230.

I used to be with Ageas a few years ago when I had a prang, I found them very easy to deal with and everything was handled very well and swiftly.

Don't think £230 is too bad considering its a 170 with two named drivers and a policy with all the bells and whistles.

Just got a quote from LV of £185 for 2 drivers, 10000 miles 170 Yeti Elegance. Last year was £313 with Skoda Insurance with whom I shall now be negotiating when renewal comes up
