For off the line technique hints go and watch a speed hill climb (not a drag race as the cars are too radically set up for staright line only). There is half a second to be gained or lost just in the first 64 feet in the same car if you get it right or wrong. If you can do 64 feet in less than 2 seconds in a moderately quick car you certainly are getting it right. Bit easier on a bike
