Roof wrap or not ?

Featured Replies

My Meteor Grey vRS TDi hatch with black pack should be arriving in the next few weeks and having seen Hans Stuck test driving the RS230 on youtube - I wonder whether to have the roof wrapped in gloss black. The RS230 he was driving had I assume a painted black roof but I thought it looked quite good. I have been quoted £120 for the wrap.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the look (or wrapping in general) ? I have also had a quote of £170 for applied tinting all rear windows something I forgot to include in my order - again any thoughts ?

Should look good and that sounds like a reasonable price to me, bear in mind roof wrapping is considered a modification by insurers so check with them first.

When I ordered my VRS I also ordered the sunroof, however I always thought the roof always looked unfinished as two thirds was black and the remainder the cars body colour.

A week after I collected it I had it wrapped in gloss black, all seemed ok until I gave the car a good clean, and just wasn't happy with the finish of the wrap.

I tried living with it but it just kept bugging me, in the end I took it off and had the roof pro painted in two pack black.

I would say save yourself the messing around and just get it painted.

Andy.

I've got a white VRS on order. Black pack will be on it. The dealer actually asked if I'd wrap the roof in black. It seems like it's all the rage for the 18 year old corsa owners and one advantage would be that the nuclear seagul **** wouldn't burn my paint but ultimately it's £120 for £5 of vinyl fitted to your roof that looks like you wished you bought a better car. Its a bit halfords for me.

Having said that I had considered it....

Im also waiting on a new vrs in Candy White with black pack and interested into wrapping the rear spoiler and roof black but these mixed comments kind put me of.

Can i ask why you wasnt happy?

Having second thoughts now ! Anyone else any views.

If the car had come from the factory with a black roof that wouldn't be a modification would it ?

It's not like it's a Lamborghini wrapped in gold for driving around Harrods.

I had mine rapped in gloss black about 18 months ago looks great to me and no problems.

If you like it then why not. Only advice I'd offer is make sure the wrapper knows what they are doing and has good customer feed back.

I've read some real horror stories one of which is from a member on here with a Skoda and Nissan fetish.

It didn't give the depth that you get with paint. I only use high quality polish and waxes and no matter how many layers or types of wax it just would not get a good finish.

If you like it, get it done. Who cares what others think.

As long as it's a good job!

Hope this helps ...
