KESSY

If the key battery fails you can enter the car with the emergency key, right? Once inside how then do you start the car?

Hi,

I have KESSY on my Octavia and yes, you'd be able to get in with the key. You would not be able to start the car though, because it would not be able to detect the key. There's no method to start it by physically using the key.

You will get plenty of notice of when the battery is starting to fail though. I've just had to replace mine, and I got warning messages on the dashboard and you'll find you'll be opening the car with the remote buttons before it stops allowing you to start the car. The trick is to replace the battery as soon as you can after the car starts warning you.

Hope this helps.

Doesn't it use RFID principle? No battery needed but needs to be in proximity of steering column (or wherever rfid receiver is situated). Any mechanics reading thread?

Manual says to hold the back of the key fob next to the start/stop button, so may be RFID.

Like any brand, they use RFID indeed. Just hold the key on the start-button while you press it

Not sure if people are aware as did see the question somewhere. Is you have kessy you can lock the doors by swiping you hand across the door handle

Has anyone tried locking/unlocking their KESSY equipped car by licking the door handle? Could train your dog to unlock your car..... :D

It's a good way to get some extra salt in your diet.

Mine was just about clean enough when I collected it. That lasted all of 5 minutes......

I have kessy on my Octavia and recently had a dead battery in the wife's key, it couldn't see the key no matter where it was held so wouldn't start

The battery in the fob started failing on my MkII after just 18 months (with KESSY).

I got a battery low warning after ~12 months on my O3 with KESSY. I changed batteries in both my own AND my wife's key :)

May I know how to change the batteries of KESSY?

I can't find a way to disassemble my KESSY of Superb 2016. Thanks.

I did a test drive of the S3 this past weekend and as far as I recall the key was quite similar to the O3.

There is a few videos available on YouTube for changing the battery in the O3 key: https://youtu.be/9JprTlilChM
