Unfortunately that was to see out the rest of his days at home, as there was nothing more anyone could do for him.

A great shame as I remember seeing him on TV as host of a quiz show on Saturday evenings when I was younger. Every Second Counts: make the most of the ones you have left.

He came into a coffee shop run by a mate of mine in the last couple of years. My mate said he was very pleasant and chatty
