Guess What...... I Brought Another......

Featured Replies

Many of you will know from reading this forum that I took delivery of my L&K 150 DSG Hatch last October.

Immediately I had trouble with the car from noises to suspension problems, value problems, start stop problems and finally a gearbox problem.

Having argued my socks off and the car being at the dealers 8 times, VW finally accepted that the car not fit for purpose and arranged to take it back.

I swore I would never touch a Superb or VW again! I was on the hunt for a new car. I looked at Mondeos, Mazda 6, Eclass and 5 Series. Mondeo drove well but the interior looks dated. The Mazda is a great sports car but it's just to small inside. The Eclass is getting replaced now and is completely different. The 5 series is the best to drive out of the lot but the same shape has been around since 2010 and it just doesn't appeal to me anymore.

I couldn't bare to wait 5 months for a new Superb so after evaluating everything............... I've just brought a ex demo.

The demo is a 190 Exec Hatch with a few extras. It's 10k cheaper than my L&K. The things I will miss from my L&K is KESSY and the Canton stereo. That's pretty much it. The DCC just caused me problems and to be honest I just left it in Normal mode. The 150 was good but I've heard the 190 is better. I actually prefer the Alcan interior to the beige leather which has become abit grubby after 16000 miles.

I just hope this one is problem free. I speced the car up on the Skoda site with all the extras and it came to 32k! I paid 22k for the ex demo which is a 65 plate.

Let's see how we get on.

Hi I think you have done well, i love my 190 exec hatch i hope you will get on fine mine was an ex business managers car bought January and i love it.

Previous car was a Mini cooper s had to get it out the system! and before that a 5 series, but got to say i think the Superb is a better car. Good luck to your new car!

Brave man, good luck with the demo.

I looked at a 65 plate dealer's demo 5000miles L&K FWD 190DSG

but in the end ordered new 4x4 L&K with more extras for £2k less than the dealer's demo.

Now the wait until June. Just hoping it's not a Friday afternoon lemon.

I don't think anyone will find a better speced car, with the addition of a massive boot and rear leg room of a S class for 22k

The dealer was great, they also just serviced the car for me and added a 2 service pack which includes a minor and major service.

I take it you didn't order through a dealer network? To be honest I could have ordered a new once but they're quoting 5 - 6 months now. That's far to long.

I bought through a broker. The car arrives from a Skoda UK dealer on s low loader. Never bought a car through a broker before but I researched the company on this forum before jumping.

I'm retired and prepared to wait for the car.

Gutted that you had such a bad experience with the previous car.

I thought you had ordered a Merc and that was the end of it.... Cant help but think  you're a bit mad having another after everything you posted about your old car and the service you had.... How many times did you say you would never have another VAG group car again lol ?

Anyway hope it works out OK for you.

Oh and welcome back to us 'Fanboys'

I eat my words. I was a very angry man then! I was just fed up with the car and the service from VW finance. My case manager has left the company and her replacement is fantastic.

I never went with the Merc as it was a fair bit out of my budget and the mileage I do it just wasn't worth it.

I have committed to the car but haven't test drove it yet. Fingers crossed it ok.

Well at least you have a bit more oomph now with the 190 and its a great price !

You need to test drive it, it might have all the problems you old one had. A proper drive also, maybe ask if you can take it for an hour or so.

Bought not BROUGHT.

The 190 is pretty sweet. I'm rather loved up with mine. Long may that continue :D

Good luck, i really hope this one works out for you.

Best of luck with it. It's worth giving the brand another shot. It would be really bad luck to get another dud car.

Okay guys i picked up my Ex Demo SEL Exec today.

The dealer was supposed to pick me up from the train station at 11.00 but arrived at 11.40am. Not a great start.

We got to the dealership and the sales chap wanted to get all the paperwork out of the way.

I insisted I test drive the car first having had all the previous problems. The sound of the car is completely different to my 150dsg. It's much quieter, smoother and better gear changes. It also doesn't vibrate when idle. So it confirms that the L&K that's going back is a bad car.

Now then....... Having signed all the paper work and driven 80 miles home we have a problem.

Problem being that the flipping heater vents and dash make a noise when you accelerate hard. It happened all the time with the L&K and I can't believe it's happening to this one too! A lot of people on this forum have this problem.

So my question is does anyone have a fix? I can't be arsed to start complaining and arguing with the dealer again. These Superbs have done my head in lol

It's only when the engine is cold, i've become immune to the noise now...

Mine too. Only under acceleration when cold and only whilst the engine is under load. Stops as soon as the revs drop.

Yeah but no but!

It still shouldn't be happening or Skoda should know about.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if we could get in direct touch with the factory

Can't say I've noticed this. Explain in detail and I'll see if mine does it.

What I find is that when you accelerate a little harder than you normal would, there's a vibration and rattle from the central upper dash area and also the heater vents rattle.

It doesn't happen all the time. It seems to happen in lower gears rather than higher gear changes.

I actually think it only happens on DSG models

Haven't experienced that on the 2.0l manual.

This does not occur on my 2.0tdi Manual

Interesting. Like above it must be a DSG issue

I've a manual 1.6TDI, it only happens as Devonshiredave explained above.

I get rattle/resonance from that kind of area near the door pillar. Doesn't bother me too much. I guess I view it as pretty inevitable but perhaps am too accepting! It's not only when accelerating, either.
