Anyone Fitted Different Horns To The Yeti

Featured Replies

On my Ford Focus towcars I fitted various truck sounding horns.

I don't go much for the sprint horns shriek but the boss bass

truck horns seem to make people think something bigger is coming!

Any ideas as to what will fit the Yeti.

I find the horns perfectly satisfactory. About the only time they get used is to move sheep out of the way.

Hi All,

I have the same question. I have looked through all the posts I can find relating to Yeti Horns and I can see where various people have made recommendations, but all the links are now dead.

Does anyone have any current suppliers of a louder, meatier horn, preferably not an Airhorn?

Thanks.

I find the dual horns on my Elegance sound very good, not shrill at all.

Likewise

I'm having trouble finding somewhere that does the Elegance horns. Could someone please post a link?

Thanks for the link. They don't list a Horn so I have emailed them.

When it comes to fitting it, can it be done from the Engine Bay or will I need to take off the Front Bumper?

I'd like a Klaxon on mine but I have been told NO.

Sorry never really looked on mine. My days of crawling under cars and rebuilding or repairing any fault are long over!

I specified the rough road pack on mine, and apart from briefly looking under from the front, don't really know what it looks like!

I suspect the bumper will need to come off.

Found this on the net.

""The horns are located at the front left and right next to the frame side rails behind the bumper.

Switch off the ignition and all electrical components.

Remove the sound dampening system

Slacken the front part of the wheelhouse liner on the side of the horn to be removed

Vehicles with diesel engines, right side - slacken charge air hose.

Unplug connector, unscrew fixing screw and remove horn with bracket.

If necessary, detach bracket from horn.""

One of the the popular horn upgrades for motorcycles is the Stebel Nautilus - worth looking at the Stebel range.

I have got a Klaxon on mine and a two way switch to turn the std horns back on

May I ask where you have installed it?  I have a Klaxon so old it is +ve earth and I would like to install it in mine.

I would probably wire it to a separate push switch - but remove it before presenting the car for MoT ;)

Had my Yeti for nearly a year. Not even sure where the horn switch is.

Previously had a Subaru for six years.  Kept passing its MOT so presumably it had a horn but I cannot remember  using it.

I think I used mine for the second time the other week, getting some stupid spectators out of the way and off the track on WRGB.

I’ve got these they aren’t very loud BUTT they do the job,not to be sniffed at,is this what the yeti forum has come to ?

My Klaxon is fitted in void on the passenger side behind the wheel arch (the same place as the washer bottle on the other side) It has been fitted to many different cars since about 1970 It is wired with a fused feed to a relay. A two way switch controls whether the std horn blows or the Klaxon sounds. The MOT man was most impressed. It also takes up less room than a set of air horns.

Thank you everyone who gave sensible advice, and everyone who gave non-sensible advice too. :-)
