Dealer Remap ?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone knows if its possible to get a remap done via a skoda dealer on a new car? Have my VRS coming hopefully at the end of the month and would like a stage 1 remap but don't want to void my warranty.

cheers

Nope, I even contacted Skoda direct and they said no.

Check with Rainworth Skoda, they are a Revo franchise

A dealer can carry out a remap if they so wish. However Skoda will wash their hands of it should an issue arise.

Maybe you should run it in for the 1st 1000 miles, then measure it's performance before you remap the engine.

you may have a problem with a remap on a new tsi 220

the ECU security was changed around march 15 and only a couple of companies have cracked the encryption so far to be able to flash the most recent ECUs

if you look carefully most of the uk sites - superchips, revo, shark etc won't be able to flash an ecu newer than 03/15

i don't have any APR dealers near me either

Personally I would not tune a brand new car, as I think the early miles are critical to how the engine performs in later life. Also I would have thought it would be very easy for a dealer to check if this has been done, just by looking at the variable limits, if a local dealer couldn't do this I'm sure skoda can. I'm not sure how they would detect a tuning box although I don't think it would be to difficult in the respect it's still connected to the ecu. The thing is if anything goes wrong with the car even if it's not related directly with the tuning, it's very difficult for the average Joe to prove otherwise, probably requiring an independent engineers report. And it begs the question why buy a new car to tune strait away, I guess it's personal preference, however why not just buy a secondhand fast car.

If you want to remap. Go for it. Just remember like everything in life, if you fiddle be prepared to suffer the result, both the good and the bad.

I would however recommend leaving it until you've done the bedding in period, and for any gremlins to show.

Warranty wise, it's a gamble, generally speaking it only stops the covered parts, in most cases the dealer either doesn't care or doesn't know.

Skoda UK however has the right to refuse or check any warranty claim that they choose.

Thanks guys for the replies, I'll wait untill the warranty runs out then. I was only thinking if skoda did it it would be covered.
