Evening all.

 

 

I had a Halfords Tyre inflator that has finally give up the ghost so I need a new one. What do you have/use or what would you go for?

 

Whilst it's fresh in my mind, what do you peeps fill your tyres up to?

 

Last time (before it died) I did 32 psi all round. Not sure if this is correct but the car generally 'felt' better and was a tad grippier.

I've got an earlier version of this Ring compressor - http://www.ringautomotive.com/uk/products/Cars/Tyre+Care/Air+Compressors/RAC630 - and it does the job fine. I'd buy another if it gave up (had it around four years I think).

 

I tend to keep tyre pressures a little higher than standard, though on my all seasons just having it 0.1 bar over the standard 2.2 all round (on the Yeti) has been good. On the previous summer tyres it handled best midway between the light load and fully loaded/speed values - that's with just me in the car and no luggage, as it felt too soft otherwise. The current tyres have a higher rating (98 XL vs 94) so don't need quite the same pressure to get the performance.

I have a 630 and a 635 - gave the 630 to my daughter, both brilliant bits of kit.

+1 for any Ring RAC model. Digital 630 nicer though. [emoji106]

Just get a tyre inflator through Ebay. There are loads that have been part of a tyre inflation kit and have never been used. I have got a Mini pump sitting in the garage.

Got to admit, I just use the one at tesco. It's a quid for all the tyres and as much screenwash as you can carry.

I get them free from a mate who's dad works at a well known car auction site... They strip the cars before selling so might be worth a try???

It was on Amazon for £29 for both Compressor and "Goo" kit. The compressor can be bought on its own and I have to say it's far better than the one supplied with the Yeti, Tiguan, Jazz and RAV4.

It's as accurate as any of my several pressure gauges. You set the desired pressure and it cuts off when it's reached and as I say it's very accurate. The other big plus is it remembers the pressure you set it at so even if you use it  "xyz" months later (OK I check my pressures fortnightly) it will remember the last pressure you set it at.

They are available at B&M for £6 at the moment, sure you can get them from loads of places though.

For a fer years now I check pressure only when changing the tyre. And to be honest when going on holiday to top up for higher load.

No defects not top ups. I am using puncuturesafe wfter new tyres are fitted and settle down. 

Last service I took two nails out. No pressure lost and thanks to pressure signal valve cap I got visual pressure check every time I look at tyre.

 

I have a Viair compressor kit and a Würth tyre plugginging kit my car. Also carry spare wheel and jack.  Maybe this is why I don't have any punctures anymore?
