280 insurance

Featured Replies

Hi, I have just got  insurance quotes from comparison sites for my 280 estate l&k, which hopefully will still be valid when I finally get it (early June!!!!!!).

9 years no claims....£219 being the best price. Is this comparable to others on here with the same car?....I reckon I am paying a tiny bit extra as I don't have my wife any longer as a named driver!

That's pretty good UW... Think mines around £290 with the Mrs. I'm 47.... I think ... She's 18.

My 150 2.0tdi is £580!!! That's for 25k business miles with 7 years ncb (I'm 31)

hm, what are conditions of insurance you speak of guys?
i am 45 got no incidents for 10+ years and my yearly payment for insurance is a bit over 500 eur. which i consider very OK. compared to Subaru STI 1500 eur a year and 1600 eur for Evo 10.

it covers all, including towing help in case i forget to fill up :D in case of theft i have to pay 15% myself but in case of any other accident, nothing. except if i am drunk myself.
are we talking about the same thing?

Not got the car yet but ran some quotes the other day for when it eventually turns up.

Same engine and age as you, but much lower mileage (15k) and 5 years ncb. My cheapest was coming out at about £540.

7k miles, 200 of those business (very very occasional office travel - as in travel to other office)

I think that I need to move, my renewel was £650.00 however I do live in Beirut E17 ;)

Ouch ! Been driving since I was 19. Never had an accident that was my fault anyway.... Only insured for 7k miles a year and no business so that probably helps ...

The trouble with insurance quotes is they can have a large variation. Probably the main one is the postcode lottery (local car crime rate), followed by is it kept overnight in a garage/driveway/street, how many miles a year, intended use, voluntary excess, NCD, etc, etc, etc.

My 280 arrived exactly one week before renewal was due on my 4 year old Superb II 170 TDi estate. The renewal dropped by £80 which came as a surprise as I expected with 110 more Pferde Starke it would go in the opposite direction.

I have been driving since 23, and will be insured for 6k a year social only and thats probably way too much! In the summer i intend to take my 2 small fluffy dogs to yorkshire (never been!)....moors or dales or both?

Both of course !

I'd always imagined that business use would make it a higher premium but the last few years I've had 1000 miles business included (for the at most 2/3 times in a year I might find helpful to have it and this was the lowest amount I could choose) and it's made under £1 difference each time. I guess a higher proportion of business miles may make a difference though. Of course the lower the mileage full stop the less likely you are to have a crash so the lower the premium.

Remember and use a cash back site like Quidco! Brought my renewal for my vRS down by £60. Better in my pocket than theirs.

Hi, have you tried us for insurance yet?

If so, how did we do?

Shocking ....  Hundreds of pounds more with zero interest of even discussing bringing it down no matter how many times I mentioned Dan and Briskoda.

When I lived in Walthamstow mine was £810. Moved out of London and it dropped to £325 :)
