so either they've swapped off the extremes, or they have the details wrong in the advert......

Just had a look on Simpsons web site and the car is not listed. No Photos in the Auto Trader Ad either.

I'm going to guess they have just copied and pasted the normal items on a standard 220Tsi.

They also have Meteor grey  ( in the Used Car section )  listed as a Metallic/perlesent paint, It's not it's a solid/flat colour.

Might not even be a 230. Also the " V " on the VRS Badge is Black, the standard models are grey. . There are a few  other tell tale items only fitted to the 230.

The 230 is only £730 more than a Standard 220 ( hatch ) and with so much extra kit it's well worth the extra cash.Leather, heated seats, folding eletric mirrors, black pack, sunset glass, fancy front

  • No. I got the 230 for the diff and financially it made sense based on the other kit you get thrown in vs a 220. Spec a 220 with to match a 230 and it'll cost you more. The additional 10bhp was irrelev

i found it on their website - no mention of the wheels though becuase they just copy the "manufacturer's list specification for this model"

http://www.simpsonsskoda.co.uk/used-vehicles/6825382-skoda-octavia-2.0-tsi-v-rs-dsg-5dr/#tab-bahjt-content

No pictures though. If you click onto the Vehicle Features there are 7 mistakes saying what its iot fitted when infact it hasn't

Shouldn't be allowed to be advertise like this

a knowledgable person with time on their hands and a mischevious streak could involve the "online contact awaiting your chat" person in a discussion about the car and what it really has.

Are you thinking of a 230 ?

There are 3 vRS Octys on their website, two of which purport to be vRS 230's, & both ex Skoda judging by their KT registrations.

No pix as yet, possibly worth chasing them & asking for a video of each car if you are serious?

Or, see what Cupra 290 ST's are out there...........

I'm not considering one, was just wasting time looking at vRSes on auto trader

Collecting a 16 plate black magic manual hatch next week. Now need to sort out a map !!!

How many 230's were produced ?

Drive it for a bit first, they don't need a map imo.

Agreed, if your thinking of a Map I'd stick it on a rolling road  first just to see what it might have, the 230 is reported to possibly  have 250/55 bhp.

You might spend quite a few bob to get it to 255/60 bhp when a map might not be needed.

Just a thought

Yep will get it on a rolling road and see what's what. Have ordered the 230 decals for the sides so they should at 50bhp or so

They should in theory be all about the same, Would be very intrested to see what the 230 has.............

Personally I don't like the stickers and I'm glad mine didn't come with any, I like people to guess what it can do/or is.  Bit of a sleeper me thinks..... ;)

The stickers make no difference to performance, It's the Paint, Meteor grey is the fastest, ask anyone............with a grey one   :giggle:

I'm thinking this tbh ... It's not the last word in performance by any means, but in my day to day usage I've very rarely been able to use the power that's there already.

I am considering a map admittedly, but it's going lower in my priorities as time goes on. Plus in this weather with the standard Pirellis it's struggling to put stock torque / power down. I'll wait until the end of Spring / early summer before making a decision.

I got rid of the stock Pirelli's as soon as I could! Slipelli's they were getting called in this house.

With regards to the paint adding extra BHP, I removed the stickers as the Corida Red added at least 100 BHP's on it's own.

The 19's are coming straight off and 18 inch turini' going on with winter rubber. Will then throw the Pirelli's in the bin and get some Goodyear Eagle AS 3's for the summer

I'm glad it's not just me with the Pirellis then ... Only had the car a few weeks and thought it handled really poorly in the wet / damp / looks like it might rain.

Had Goodyear asym3s on my last car (Alfa GT) and that would run rings around the VRS in this weather, so I'll replace them all around come summer I think. The car's only done 6k so may as well get some wear out of the fronts at least.

I've a white 230 and will have to disagree with auris with his quote that the grey ones are the fastest.. most people seem to think that the grey ones lack an overcoat making them slightly lighter than the others but in truth they are finished with battleship grey which is heavier than normal paint making them slower!!!

I've just done 5000 miles in my 230 and I swear it is more powerful than when I first brought it... has anyone else noticed this or is it just my imagination playing tricks??

Also experienced the poor wet/damp grip of the Pirelli's on my previous car (Audi RS4 Avant), so I was very pleased(!) that they only lasted 9000 miles and I was able to fit other tyres. Over the 10 years I owned it I tried Goodyear F1, Michelin Pilot Sport 2 and Michelin Pilot Super Sport - of those I rank F1s best for low road noise but Pilot Super Sports best in every other way (grip wet & dry, handling and longevity - over 18000 miles).

I vowed that I will never fit Pirellis again to any car I own, they were so lacking in grip wet & dry and had such short life.

I've just gone over 15k, it get's faster.

I've heard the red ones were painted by Lucifer himself

On the tyre conversation, I've now got GY ASY3's and they make the world of difference, no more spinning of the wheels!

echo the above points, 22k miles on mine now and its definitely faster than when new. I mapped one of my mk2's but i've not felt the need on the 230 - its already feels much quicker than a stock mk2 (not driven a 220 mk3 to compare).

also a big fan of goodyears - ran them on all of the previous vRS's - i'll be getting a set when the pirelli's are dead (my winters are on now so this won't be until the spring).

if you feel the need to make your car quicker my advice would be to look at better dampers and ARBs - on my second mk2 i kept the engine stock but put money into better dampers, arbs, light wheels, brakes etc and that made the car much nicer to drive and much quicker cross country, even with stock engine tune. check out Alex's (AKS) for suspension stuff: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/398678-aks-mk3-octavia-vrs-project/

Only 3 more sleeps till collection day.
