yellow vRS

Featured Replies

Last furby, 1.2 64 bhp, was red (now residing with my dad), last vRS was black,(liked but impossible to keep clean, showed scratches), wifes octy is silver (looks non descript, every other car), so leaves yellow, any body with a yelow furby out there: does it require excessive cleaning?, does it show scratches?, does it attract nutters/ w?>@>

If you look after a black car properly, it will look fantastic. I've just cleaned a waxed mine today and applied some scratch X all over and it looks just like new.

I am slightly biased I suppose as we have two black ones but I don't find black any harder to keep clean than other colours of cars I have had.

What I have seen though is red's, sliver's and yellow's with very black and sooty boots. If you run your hand across the back of the car you will get plenty of soot on your hand.

In terms of hiding scratches I would have thought silver would be better.

If you buy yellow I think you would have to be prepared to lose on resale and possibly find it harder to sell on.

... so leaves yellow, any body with a yellow furby out there: does it require excessive cleaning?, does it show scratches?, does it attract nutters/ w?>@>I arrived at yellow by a similar logic. It gets grubby fairly gracefully, and since the undercoat/primer is white, its probably the best at hiding scratches. I think it looks best with black B pillar trims and the rubbing strips left on, but that's personal opinion (photos in my gallery).

It's also high-viz, so people tend to get out of your way when you come up behind them. And you can find it in the supermarket car park.

The wifes black vRS was washed weekly with maguires gold, we tryed waxing with a solid wax, we tryed liquid wax (mer) and allways we could dtect fine scratches, marks. I would love another black car and agree it probably looks the best of the lot when pristine, but when its not it looks poor, I think part of the problem is the light coloured undercoat used. Saw a new octy vRs in the showroom, the car hadn't even been on the road and I could see fine scratches in the paintwork. I know these are there on all cars but in black they do tend to shout at me and I am a pernikity sod. I have not heard of scratch x is this a god product that would solve my problem? Or is it another member of the T-cut family, which I would not want to use on a new car or on a regular basis?

I've managed to get good results with scratch X.

I used P21S car wash, followed by P21S Paintwork Cleanser to prepare the paintwork, the I waxed it with P21S Carnauba Wax, and it has a left an amazing deep wet look shine I am very pleased with the results Ive got today.

Its also best to use a decent cloth when doing these jobs, as it makes all the difference to the quality of the result, and minimises damage such as scratches and swirls.

I use Meguiar's NXT Car Wash and Swissol Onyx wax. Superb results and no scratches !!.....Yet !!

Had to be silver for me - (6th silver car i've had) - ok doesn't stand out as much but then i didn't want it to.

Silver is the best at hiding scratches, looks good when polished and doesn't look dirty as quick as other colours :)showimage.php?i=3915&c=500

Silver for me too! I have a massive scratch on one of my doors and 90% of the time it is NOT visible (only under certain light conditions). I would have thought other colours would show scratches more.
