Service @ 10k

Featured Replies

Car is flagging that it needs an oil change service at 10k ?

Sound right?

That is the fixed service interval. I'm on variable, oil will be done at 18700 miles. The other service indicator has yet to indicate when due, as still shows maximum setting.

According to the service book, it's on QI6 - which is variable?

Is that 150 TDI or TSI?

150 TDI DSG

Lease company reckon there is a fault with the car and are saying "it shouldn't be this early".

Despite the fact the service book sticker states "QI6" which is variable / flexible servicing and that you should service in line " with the service display"

Some dealers change the car to fixed servicing on the PDI

My 150 TDI DSG says it will need a service at 18500 miles HTH

Bloody hell Coops 10k already !! ?? Only seems like 2 seconds that we were talking about colours ... I've just passed 4k. Whats your take on the motor then ? You pleased with it ?

Isn't the whole point of variable servicing that it's... variable? Our 220 TSI does mostly town work and currently says it'll want an oil change at 12k and an inspection at 18k. It's dynamic based on oil condition and driving conditions. Or have I missed something? The variable service schedule can be quite long under ideal conditions but not everyone drives under ideal conditions, me included.

When I got mine from the Dealer they had set it to fixed intervals. A brief but firm conversation had them reset it to variable intervals.

I know mate, look after different sites now so piling on the business mileage.

Love the car, glad I chose it over vRS. Smooth, refined and comfortable. Don't know why I didn't pick the DSG before!

I'm not far behind you. Almost 9k and increasing at over 300 miles a week.

My thoughts exactly Derv.

Mine has done 80% motorway mileage at 70mph+

It's going in for oil change whether lease company like it or not, my company pay for the servicing anyway.

How many miles did you do before inspection came up with correct service mileage? I've done 6k, but still set at max of 6.5 million miles until due

Starting telling me about 1500 miles out from 10k

I've just had my 1st service done at 17,500 miles (1,500 miles early) on my 2.0Tdi 150. Just the usual service, front tyres still at 5mm depth.

i don't believe in that large intervals :)

will change first on 6k Km and then on each 10k

Inspection service telling you it's due 1500 miles before it needs to be done isn't good, as I'm planning on 3000 mile European drive in 2 weeks for my summer holiday. Have to hope I'm due at approx 18k, same as the oil.

I had the service done early as we're heading to France tonorrow, so would be overdue on our return. Lease company were OK with that

At what point did your car tell you the inspection service was due?

I think 2000 miles to go until service the message popped up

If you look up car data for service info, can't remember exactly which menu but it is there, you should see an exact count down in days and miles before first service us due. My 1.4 petrol is predicting around 18K before first service which at current rate will be around a year since purchase. This is useful to allow for planning and budgeting if you're paying for servicing yourself.

Picked up my 280 this morning, had oil change service,100 miles overdue when i dropped it off with a mileage of 9150,cost 174.00 and was cleaned inside and out to a high standard.was expecting it to go a little futher than that before the first service was due,but hay ho!! Kevin.

Modern long life synthetic oils are excellent, but I'd still much rather change it more often than not. It's not exactly expensive and your oil can never be 'too fresh'. Personally if I owned out right rather than leasing I'd be changing it every 5k / 6 months myself between 'official' 10k fixed interval services.

My 220 is currently on 1,400 miles and estimating it'll need an oil change at 10k, which to be fair is nothing for modern oils. So yours sounds about right.

I've run several cars to 100k+, using the manufacturers service intervals. Last one was 18k intervals and when sold with 125k on it, engine still ran good and didn't use/burn any oil. Most important thing is to have it serviced and not mistreat it, such as over revving when cold
