I'm sure you're not, but luckily, as I've got them, I really like them!

One negative is that both alloy sizes have a fairly hefty gap before the wheel arch so I can understand why many look at lowering the car.

Just checked and it is part of the black pack plus option

A long drive today from home to Slough was a chance to see what MPG I could get. Also saw around 5 other Octavia vRS (white seeming to be the colour of choice) today.

On the way there I managed 49mpg and on the way back 52mpg (whilst putting my foot down a little more I thought). Left it in Sport the whole time. Pleased with that, but hoping it'll get a little better with the first service.

The Sat Nav went a bit odd and was giving directions through maxi dot and speakers, but the map seemed stuck. Hit a button on screen where the compass usually is and that fixed it. Wasn't before I'd switched the engine off a couple of times thinking it needed a reset! Must have hit something on screen for it to stay on a fixed position on the map. It continues to impress though with its traffic updates compared to old Passat unit and I'm almost sold on leaving my TomTom (live traffic update version) at home as I've got 80% trust in the car sat Nav diverting me as required.

Canton sounds really good IMO now I've adjusted the equaliser - also have the sub up on 7-9, suit most of my eclectic mix. Not sure cars next to me in a couple of jams on the M4 and the A350 in Chippenham would agree though!

Mine is a company car too - has raised a lot of eyebrows as its so well equipped and has those huge alloys. Some have still said "it's a Skoda", but most really like it.

I've been getting around 47-50mpg this week, still in sport, and have still given it some beans on occasion. It's just as happy cruising though, which is a great attribute many probably don't think about. Enjoy yours - I've no doubt you'll love it!

Me too - it was next to a colleagues A6 and another's new Passat GT and THOSE wheels did really make the Skoda stand out above he other two side on. In fairness the standard alloys look pretty good as well, but I'm happy I managed to get the Extremes.

Just a little observation today (and previously) in the typical British summer time weather - I don't like the rear windscreen spray! Was expecting it to come from the top corner - always had it in the middle in other cars. Maybe that's just me being a little OCD there?

Canton has been blaring out a lot the past few days and I can safely say it's miles better than the unit I had in the old Passat. Definitely better turned up, get some bad vibrating through the speakers on some songs when it is quiet. Is this a sign of it loosening up as I've read elsewhere? Or is it my ears adjusting to the output.

Been pushing the car more into the corners now and I'm impressed with how planted it is for an estate. It's not quite as go kart like as the old Ibiza FR I used to have for obvious reasons, but that torque in 3rd or 4th out of corners is very addictive.

The electric mirrors are sloooooow in turning in compared to the 12 plate Passat (would have expected them to be similar given the age difference) and that's a little frustrating as drive on a lot of narrow roads where it gives that little more room for manoeuvre with them tucked in. Minor gripe, not one to bring my feelings on the car down thus far.

Electric boot is a god send for me with work and is one of the options I ticked that's impressed me most. Apart from the extremes [emoji6] ;)

I'll post another update on thoughts so far later, but here's a pic of the start of the detailing today. Will post final results later - it's looking awesome!

Out today for bit of a drive, don't often do that these days. Was coming back down the lanes with some sunday dirvers in front of me and not a lot of places to overtake, the TDI picked up and got me past with very little drama :-) .

Can be quite smooth when making progress, I know it don't have the same pick up as a petrol but also not as frantic and besides, I'm past the age of a red right grand prix these days.

A good days driving by the sounds of it! Coming from a 143 Passat, it's much better - especially from 40-70 for safer overtaking. I've got a little used to that fake exhaust note too [emoji51]

thanks for the video. I've had my car 10 months and I've NEVER used the rear washer. Not once. I usually use condensation or rain or motorway spray to "clean" it.

So this video shows me what I'm missing. Ha ha. The nozzle is at the side of the brake light so would expect it to be off set.

Haha, glad I've helped! Not sure why it isn't in the middle like most other (VAG?) cars...

So another week in and am I still as impressed as I was almost 4 weeks and 2,000 miles ago?

Yes I am.

However, a few interesting points have emerged when comparing to other older VAG cars. The folding mirrors are slow compared to the Passat (4 years older) - which is a pain on single track roads when I need to get them in sharpish. I'll live with it though! The other clear difference was with my electric boot when comparing it to my old mans 09 plate A4 avant - a much smoother & slightly quicker operation. Yes it's an Audi, but I'd have thought Skoda would have had a similar set up after 6 years on the premium brand. I find it very interesting - maybe Skoda will get those parts after 10 years.

The seats continue to impress and my mate (64 plate (AMG spec) C Class) said they were much better than his - I'll take that!

MPG is still hovering around 43-47, but I haven't taken it (and am unlikely to) out of sport for the past week and have had a lot of town driving. Must admit I've also opened it up a bit more this week too having gone past the 1,500 mile marker (not that that's really relevant) and still find the torque on offer very addictive. Would love to see what one of those DTUK (or similar) boxes could do.

The ride is still fine on the 19" Extremes and they seem to get a lot of attention from passers by. I think the standard alloys are cool too, but if you're wavering and are worried about the ride - don't be, get the Extremes!!

I've just had it detailed and will be investing in some decent products now to keep it looking as shiny - here's a few pics after the guy had finished.

Nice shine to that Blue  :envy:  . Think the weather is getting nice enough now to treat mine to a decent clean and polish.

I'm amazed as it hasn't looked this shiny since I've had it (had a long transporter trip through storms!). I'm awaiting details on the products the chap used today on it - definitely need to invest in a machine polisher and a new pressure washer. He reckoned I'd need to reapply the sealant on it in about 4 months.

who knows? Haven't used mine as I'm paranoid about leaks!! Daft really but a couple of my previous cars hoses "came apart" and caused chaos and so I learnt to do without. Ha ha.

Hi there - I'm brand new and signed up especially after finding this thread.

Firstly, thank you for posting your pictures and thoughts of the car so far. I've got a new vRS DSG Hatch with the black pack plus (inc 19 inch wheels) and after seeing some reviews I was starting to think I'd made a bad move due to the road noise and ride.

I currently drive a 59 plate Golf GT TDI DSG and that thing (whilst I love it) bangs and crashes about over just about any bump, so I would hope that the ride is an improvement in the vRS.

Interestingly, I do a lot of motorway driving, would you say that you are happy with the car whilst cruising about?

Daryll

I have a 230 DSG. The ride is not firm. Its quite nice. Road noise is normal for this class. Used to drive an Audi a6 Allroad. A lot more expensive car, still I find the VRS OK. The interior quality is not too great. Door panels are a bit cheap. But all in all I am happy. In the end you get what you pay for. In my opinion its a good car for all my needs. The petrol is not too thirsty either. And more refined and quiet.

Some people report a booming noise. No problem so far here.
