new vRS

Featured Replies

I am currently driving an 8 month old Octy 2 Ambiente with 17" Pegasus wheels in graphite grey. Its a 1.9TDI remapped to 145 bhp and is no slouch. Having come from a 200bhp mk4 Golf GTI which I had to sell due to needing more space with a growing family I miss the hot hatch feel.

I am feeling tempted by the new vRS. However will it fill the void created by the loss of my GTI. Will it feel special enough to warrant the cost to change so soon?

From the reports that I have been reading I gather the suspension is more setup for comfort but this may not be a very bad thing when transporting a young family. How different does it drive compared to a mk5 GTI?

Cheers :)

I'm not sure whether anybody on this board has test driven the new vRS yet. You may have to wait a few days for a verdict on that one :)

I've driven niether (yet) but all of the reviews seem to share the view that it's as good a drive as the new Golf Gti.

When Whatcar did a group test of the Ford Focus ST, The MK5 GTi and the New Octavia vRS -- the vRS won.

I hope you're kidding. :)

I've tried the vRS (here) and to trade a new Ambiente for one would be paying a heck of a lot for just a turbo. It drives ok but not so different to the standard car and the bigger wheels make a heck of a noise. If your kids are small they'll need to be wrapped in cling-film before you let them in the car to keep that pale grey suedette trim on the seats clean. You don't get any choice of seat colour unlike the rest of the range.

Same as the MK1 vRS then, no trim choice and those mesh seats and grey carpets are a bugger if you have kids

If you can afford to change go for it:thumbup: your px will probly be:finger:
