Le Mans 2016 & ( in 2017 - No Audis) !

Looks like Toyota's year at the moment at Le Mans as the TS050 Toyotas are 1 and 2 now with a Porsche in 3rd and the Audis behind but helping the Porsche to hold up the Toyotas.

It looks like the Toyotas change to turbo petrols and batteries rather than super capacitors have lead to a performance advantage.

Audi being warned by race directions over the radio fo failing to obey blue flags.

These cars only have fuel tanks same as family cars rather than F1 cars of twice the size but a hundre or two more hp than F1 with their hybrid systems providing almost as much power and the internal combustion engine.

Porsche might get second at current progress with Toyota taking the first and third if thing stay the same although one of the Toyotas spun a few laps ago.

Looks like the Audi diesels might have had their day after a good nine year stint.

VAG are saying their may go down to one team in the near future and that team looks like it would be Porsche espeicially with the doubt over the future of diesel technology in cars.

Feel for Toyota. All the hard work and the engine goes bang on the last lap

Absolutely.  For the TS050 in its first year and only be 3 minutes from winning in a 24 hours 381 laps, 5,200 Kms driven, tough break.

At least 3 different manufacturers on the podium even if only surviving Audi a dozen laps down.

Met Loterer at Silverstone, nice guy, so much more approachable than F1 drivers.

It was wieird as it looks like the engine went in to limp mode, it was still doing 200 kph down the straights but not the 325 or so where it was out dragging the Porsche and the Audi for the other 23 hours and 57 minutes of the race.  It will be interesting to see it for the rest of the season but it looks like a great performing car and since it is only a few month old there is bound to be a few shake down issues.

That certainly was an epic finish. #cruel

The toyota guys, to be a fly inside the team bosses heads.... so, oh my so dam close. That has to be gut wrenching. Happy to see such pride and emotional control. To have done that on a new(ish) car rebuilt design...

I wonder what happened between 2am and 8am a few bits of body work seemed to be astray on a few cars. Also the speed, they kept pushing, lap after lap, no fuel save or take it easy... just 10's and 10's of sprint races.

Oh and Ford... well done. A demonstration of a smash and grab.. wonder if they'll be back next year.

Kamui Kobayashi in #7 smashes LeMans lap record by over 2 seconds in Q2.

However, Toyota #8 needs an engine change.

#8 fixed, Nakajima goes P2 on first flying lap in Q3

Dodgy rule tweak in GT makes Porsches faster...

Despite being only 1 second off Aston-Martin's pole position, Porsche have been awarded a lower minimum weight for the race!

Organisers fixing things for their favoured team?  Aston Ferrari Chevy and Ford will be livid if the 911RSR guys run away with it.

No no it's stopped again

Incase you are wondering wtf

Toyota have had the lead since lap one

Lap 160 ish leaders car crawls to a halt after engine cutting out just past the pitlane

Limps round on hybrid power

Few laps later Toyota car no 2 stops within probably 100 metres of the pit

All this after last year's heartache

I am following live.

Saw all the problems.

First the Porsche #2 with e-motor probs.

Than Toyo #8 with the same probs.

Than Toyo #7 after SC having probs with the clutch.

And now #9 out after the crash with the LMP2 car of Trummer (#25).

#8 still in the race with a 30 lap deficit.

Lotterer & Team out of the running now, weird Le Mans.

Nice fellow Lotterer, met him at the first WEC at Silverstone.

At least one P2 car on the podium maybe 2 or 3.

I am hoping for an Alpine on the podium but that is a thin hope.
