Is your Phone holder too small for large Smartphones (S5 etc)? Then you could do what I did and convert it to a useful coin holder (couldn't find anywhere nice to keep them in Octavia 3)

 

Instructions as follows:

 

 

1. Peel off rubber top

 

2. Then extract lower insert (Gentle persuasion with a screwdriver may be needed)

 

 

3. Discard insert (But keep it as you can almost revert to as good as new)

 

4. Trim off the bottom off the rubber part with knife or scissors (leave about 1.5" which leaves enough room for coins but means they can't be seen from outside the car)

5. Line bottom pot with scrim foam or similar to avoid rattles (attach with spray mount or double sided sticky)

 

6. Refit rubber part to pot and you have a coin holder which you can easily pop coins in (remove rubber to retrieve)

7. I also keep a little torch in the top

8. If you want to revert to almost standard leave the foam in and refit insert and top and it works as well as standard.

Great idea, but after I got used to the "ashtray" tray, there is no going back

I'm planning on giving it QI charging function.

Good idea as it is way too small for most modern phones.
