Can i get sports suspension on my rapid sports thats on order?

Featured Replies

Hi browsing through the forum it seems alot prefer the sports suspension for a better ride, i have mine on order and it wasn't an option so was wondering if it can be ordered and will it effect the amount of time before the car arrives (another 2-3 weeks of waiting).

Cheers.

From what I've read it's not an option on the my16 cars. The kit that fitted the 1.2 tsi 105 car isn't OK on the 1.2 tsi110 cars.

Cheers ,spoke to the dealer today said if i was a week earlier i could have had it fitted but its now on the way to germany, fair play to him though he going to find out if they can do it once it gets here before i collect it.

Keep us updated I didn't even realise it was an option :)

The Skoda dealer kit (as seen on here) probably never fitted the 1.2 TSi cars properly anyway.  See Stormchaser's thread on his Blue Rapid Sport. The spring rates in his Skoda approved kit were only suitable for the heavier TDI and messed up his cars handling.

Anyway, if you can live without dealer approval and guarantee,  the Skoda kit springs were actually Eibach with a 30mm drop - and are in their catalogue in spring rates suitable for TSi or TDI.

Or you can have 35mm drop from H&R and there is another lower spring option described on a white Spaceback in the "picture of your rapid" thread.

Finally if you have loads of cash, you can have coilovers - see RiderXXL's Rapid Project report elsewhere onthis site.

its the 1.6tdi sport i'm getting and will defo keep you updated, might do a bit more research too, one thing i wouldnt want to do is void the warranty .

cheers for the advice.

Be very wary going through a dealer for it. Deal direct with Eibach if you can.

Since its a TDI, you'll probably be able to get the same part numbers as the official kit, but get someone competent to fit them instead.

If the parts are the same as the official kit there must surely be a case for no warranty issues?

The only warranty void would be on the suspension components which won't fail so nothing to really be concerned about

Hi all,

Got back to me (dealer) today, the workshop (in the dealership) need to see if they can order the springs if they can they will fit them, how much would you think it would cost esp if they hold onto the factory spec springs after?

just wondering as he hasn't got back to me when i asked.

The price was another bone of contention 2 years ago when several members were looking at this.  There didn't seem to be a standard price for fitting the "Skoda UK Approved" kit.  Those on here that went for it shopped around widely to get a decent deal.

Got a call today to inform me that skoda ireland DO NOT have the option to fit sports suspension on rapids full stop. they searched and found no part numbers for them, again fair play to Tony ( even though all he wants is my $$$$$) he asked where and what type of spring i was looking at so gave him the info.

Looks like im going somewhere else to get it done, oh well.

it even lists MY16 Rapids :)

There are Pro-kit springs available for hatch or sportback, TSI or TDI

Right, springs are ordered from.

http://www.eibachshop.co.uk/info-part-list?make=SKODA&model=RAPID%20(NH3)&spec=1.6%20TDI%2001%2F08%2F2013

also ordered a front spoiler lip in matt black.

http://mm-concepts.com/skoda/1254-carbon-spoilerlippe-skoda-rapid-ab-bj-13-frontspoiler-diffusor-schwert-ansatz.html

brought it on ebay for a bit cheaper.

Once i get the car (next week i hope) i'll take photos of before and afters.

wont be messing too much with her , may add a sporter rear bumper diffuser to but thats for later in the year, thanks for the help and suggestions too.

Just looking at the eibach catalogue.

If the wheels need pushing out to fill the arches after you lower it they also do spacers in 10, 12 15 20 25 or 30mm

Glad you went direct to Eibach [emoji4]

I had my dealer change my springs prior to delivery. It didn't cost a lot. I asked for the springs from a Rapid Sport.

The white car is a 2014 Rapid Sport, one of the first 500. The green one is my 2016 Rapid SE. It seems considerably lower than the Sport.
The photo's rather dingy, I'm afraid, but you get the idea.

Looks better. Arch gap looks right for the correct springs.

Dude, the Rapid Sport did not come with lower springs as standard.  So your SE has been lowered, The Sport hasn't. Hence the difference.

Luckily for you the Skoda kit spring rates are good for the 1.4TSI and the 1.6TDI, but not the lighter 1.2 according to owners on here.

Dude, what can I say? The white Sport came from the factory with lower springs than the standard Rapid. Mine had Sport springs fitted by the dealer before delivery and is noticeably lower than the Sport.

I wish my sport came as low as that. The arch gap is comical!
