Leasing Skoda Octavia MK3 TDI VRS Estate - what to look for?

Featured Replies

Worth noting that deal with Park is business only - you can't just add VAT to get the personal rate. It might very well be cheaper than Simpsons but I would be surprised if it was £900 over the term cheaper.

Not true, I have a car sourced from Parks sat on my drive as we speak.

For personal rates simply add on the VAT @ 20% (like I did in the calculations above).

Here it is, not a vRS but a Skoda on a personal deal from Parks, £201 per month (8,000 miles)...

Wow cheers lads I'm in owe of your knowledge, we've never leased or even considered it before but it looks promising.

Just spoke with the boss now and she wants the VRS Estate in metallic dark grey with Nav, Bluetooth, manual gearbox over 24 months. I'm assuming for £26k new they come as standard with xenon lights and LED's?

Yep, the vRS in the UK gets the bi-xenon's / LED DRL's as standard.

Parks website states those offers ended a month ago. This is the current offer on Contract Hire & Leasing site;-

The current deals advertised on their site are still available, the dates and specs are a little hit and miss, they were when I ordered too, but if you are serious then this is the point you pick up the phone and speak to a human for confirmation.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Ye I agree I'll be on the blower tomorrow coz I feel like kid in the sweet shop at the minute, she's happy for me to spec within reason but it must be manual and dark grey with red interior stitching, she's not left me much else to play with apart from wheels, Nav and Bluetooth lol!

I just found this which looks good.

Umbrella under front passenger seat??

Umbrella under front passenger seat??

What's wrong with the boot lol, keeps the mats and carpets dry!

What a strange statement!

The DSG box works extremely well with the diesel engines, in fact, far better than with the 105bhp petrol engine in my wife's Fabia. In the Fabia you can feel the gear changes and the box is often in a higher gear than feels comfortable.

I'm now driving the fifth DSG VAG diesel (150bhp Mk.3 Octavia SEL) and it's extremely smooth and always seems to be in the correct gear. The acceleration and use of the available diesel torque is outstanding and the acceleration in sport mode is, IMO, phenomenal.

With respect, the Fabia ain't EVER gonna feel as smooth as an Octavia is it?

Try driving a petrol DSG Octavia you'll notice the difference, even in a stage 1 remapped VRS TSI you need to be ragging the hell outta it to feel the gear changes. Or reread the bacon'n'eggs/chicken'n'bacon sandwich example.

It's not rocket science

If you go on carwow and similar your get that spec for around £25000 or possibly bit less

Now this is where the fun starts.

As above run your car through the Carwow site and get the best possible on the road price for the car.

Then have a look on Skoda's used car website and Autotrader and take a look at the screen prices for 2 year old / 20,000 diesel estates (take a bit off as no one pays screen price).

When you have your best PCH price, compare this with the difference between the Carwow price and the Autotrader price. If the PCH total price is the lower cost then PCH is likely to be the best way to go.

Remember you don't pay road fund licence on PCH cars so you'll need to figure this in too.

Quite right, that's exactly my point. I don't believe everything I read on the web which is why I simply highlighted the errors and omissions in the link you posted so others could form their own judgement about how reliable the information is, and decide whether or not to follow it up.

You will also need to consider that unless the best on the road price is on a 0% finance deal there will be 2 years worth of interest on the full amount you are borrowing whereas PCH includes finance charges in the monthly payment.

Also Autotrader advertised prices are what the seller wants for the car, they are not necessarily a reflection of what they gave to the person that traded it in, as there are overheads and profit to consider.

If you only ever plan to keep a car for a short period and run low to average annual mileage without any emotional ties then the best PCH deals are hard to beat for overall cost. But if you're the sort of person that is happy to keep a car for the longer term and run it into the ground then PCH can end up being a false economy.
