HK10 HDE (Superb2) - Warning about a car that's not fit for purpose.

Featured Replies

Today I took 'my' Superb 1.8TSI Estate back to the dealer after we reached an impasse about the oil consumption.

I have been paid back (not in full - some off for usage) for the car but am concerned that it's back on the website already for some poor other sap to buy!

That is the description for the car but it's not fit for purpose (3.81l / 1000 miles usage) and incorrectly states 1 previous owner (I was the second).

I don't want to let some other person be in the same position as me with these cowboys as they are dreadful to deal with. The director of the business was apparently doesn't talk to customers and was "too busy" when I wanted to escalate the issue. And it's up for £700 more than I paid for it!

Is there anything I can do or anybody I can contact?

I had exactly the same thing with my previous car. Mondeo ST220 from a small dealership in Bournemouth, promised a full service before purchase, but didn't disclose a lot of work including suspension, dodgy lights, the need for a new air-con system (current one had a hole in the condensor and a split pipe) and a massive amount of corrosion in the engine bay. Returned it for refund within 30 days, and 3 days later it was back on their website for the same price. No mention of my keeping it at all.

Fear for the poor sod who picks it up next, especially if he/she asks them to 'fully service' it.

Cowboys...

It has one former keeper on the V5 (the person who had it before you), and the current keeper (that's you). When you bought it it had 0 former keepers. When someone else buys it, there'll then be 2 former keepers, you and the original. It's a quirk of buying and registering cars, and it's not strictly correct to say it has one former keeper, but that's what it says on the V5.

That may be the case but I'm more worried about the fact someone will get stuck with a car that is need of some serious TLC!

Now that the car has gone can you put the Registration Number into the title of the thread on the Oil Consumption test and some unlucky person might see it.

If they buy it, the Vendor knows the car is not of merchantable quality as it is and the new buyer should have an easy time and Trading Standards might investigate and might look at prosecution if it ever comes to that.

Stick it on Face book.

The End

As AG says- "advertise" it( TRUTHFULLY )on their FB page. Or alternatively- contact Trading Standards.

Facebook and twitter seem to be the easiest fastest ways to get a message out...

Thanks for all the advise everyone. I have done a Facebook post on my public wall. They don't have a FB page unfortunately.

Left s Google review to. I know a lot of people in that area with a lot of contacts. They'll make sure the info gets out.

If you PM me the reg number then I will add it to the title if that helps?

Title amended.

Please make a call to Trading Standards and tell them which Dealership, and also Email so they have it for certain in writing.

It will assist future buyers that are being conned possibly, they can have the car returned to the dealer and be refunded within 30 days much easier.  Maybe Trading Standards can take some actions if even just a local employee having a word and making the Dealership aware they may be acting illegally.  As though they do not already know.

Skoda UK & other VW Group brands have been known to have rejected cars return to Skoda Dealerships and then be put back into the Trade with no repairs or remedial actions taken.

Sad really but it can be the VW Way.  Just keep lemons going around.

Publish the registration, I've sure you can find somewhere to write a review. It's skodas fault for making such a bad engine

I take it that you've not checked the amended thread title then? ;)
