66 Plates Arriving

Featured Replies

After a long wait my VRS 230 arrived yesterday, ordered at the start of May delivered 2nd September, worth the wait???? Yes I think so, the car is absolutely awesome, collected from Simpsons Skoda in Preston and driven home to the Midlands, great drive, handles well, but a very thirsty beasty

As previously said....this thread is useless without pictures!

I'm getting mine later this week hopefully from there...should of had it last week but they made a mistake telling me it had arrived when it hadn't so now I've got this to run around in until I get my vRS...

I would have had a September 1st, 66 plate if Skoda had got there finger out and built my 230 as promised     Might be a 17 plate the way things are going.................

Been given a build week for my 66 plate 230 by Simpsons, week 42 (17th October) so that will be 18 weeks  from my order date. They reckon it will be in the showroom for the end of Oct. - I reckon i'm being told porkies!

Simpsons.........I picked my vrs 230 up from Preston on Friday 2nd Sept, had originally ordered it back on May 5th, car was due to be built in week commencing 11th July, build was delayed by two weeks then the vehicle was shipped, arriving in the UK 23rd August, finally being delivered to Simpsons on 1st September.

When I collected the car they showed me their ordering/tracking system, very basic, the vehicle basically goes missing following manufacture until it arrives in the UK at Grimsby, the UK transport tracking system concerning delivery is even worse. The Guy's at Simpsons are just as frustrated as the customer.

Picked this one up from Simpsons in Preston earlier today. Order to collection - 5 - 6 weeks ;) But it was already built and on the system, and just happened to fit the spec I wanted.

Already done 300 miles (trip down South) and not missed a beat so far!

That is very nice, the more I see those 19's the more I wish I was getting them...although don't fancy putting new rubber on them when it comes to it! ????????

Ordered mine in May arrived in the UK around 10th of August and was collected on the 1st at 11:30am

Was told I was only the 2nd 66plate skoda to hit the road in my area...

Octavia VRS TDI

Black Pack

Canton Upgrade

It has also surprisingly come with cornering bi xenon and rain sensor etc... the option in the book only comes with the L&K as standard apparently!

Yet to figure out posting pics but trust me in white with the black pack sets it off nicely.

They're standard items on the vRS.

Hope the dealer didn't charge you for the  " extra's "

Picked her up on the 1st, 500 miles in and loving it so far!

I think she might get me in trouble though...

Certainly makes the white one seem sluggish.

I've already modified her!... Red valve caps on the wheels!

SKODA OCTAVIA VRS ESTATE QUESTION

My diesel car is at the dealers ready for collection, do these cars require a running in period/regime.

Do any new car owners recommend cleaning and polishing the car immediately even though its been through a Pre-delivery process?

Just drive as normal, but don't go silly and thrash it everywhere you go.

Absolutely - I'd clean it and polish it at once. In my experience the dealers idea of clean is not my idea of clean!

Thanks

vtec to vrs!

What's your cleaning routine?  How often to you use a clay bar?

Cheers

Lovely, nice to see one without the black pack for once (especially as the one I ordered on Friday is without the black pack).  My third vRS incoming, probably late November to early December but still a 66.

Thanks vtec to vrs!

As mine is on lease, to be honest I don't bother now.

When I had my own car I always used to use Autoglym products - Super Resin Polish / Extra Gloss protection every few washes, and their Aqua Wax every time I washed and dried it. The water always beaded and it was so easy to clean.

Picked up my 66 plate vRS on Saturday. I am a first time skoda owner and am very impressed so far. Also got it debadged. Here's some pics:

A car registered on August 31st will have a 16 plate but a car registered on 1st September will have a 66 plate - and, this is the important bit, be worth several hundred pounds MORE when trading it in.

That's why in the UK the numberplate is important, the "wrong" number costs money!

You are some funny people.  :-)

Here in denmark, we just look at the date where the car is first registered. The number plate has no say in the matter since the plate could be brand new in a old car.

If a car is sold and is at a sales place, the numberplate is removed (Since there need to be insurrance on a car if you have a plate on). So when the car is sold, a new set of plates is put on.

So looking at the plate can only tell you when the car was last sold.

So very different system from the UK one.

A car registered on August 31st will have a 16 plate but a car registered on 1st September will have a 66 plate - and, this is the important bit, be worth several hundred pounds MORE when trading it in.

Depending on how you buy it though, and how close/far the dealer is from their targets, you might get several hundred pounds off the buy price to compensate?

It's all about keeping up with the Jones'.

It used to be so mu

It used to be so much worse.  When the system used a new letter every year (1st August) around 40% of new cars in the UK were delivered that month!  This must have been a nightmare for both the retailers and the factories.  All so you have your new Escort on the newest plate for a long a possible.

Pardon my non-British ignorance but... what the heck are you all talking about? :)

In the U.K. the number/registration plate can be used to tell how old a car is, with a few exceptions that we'll ignore for now. The '66' part were talking about refers to the two numbers within the number plate. These two numbers change twice a year. In the run up to the number change a large proportion of car buyers choose to wait until the next number sequence. All so they can look better than their neighbours.

In the U.K. the number/registration plate can be used to tell how old a car is, with a few exceptions that we'll ignore for now.

The main exception being so-called "private plates" - number plates that the owner chooses and pays extra for, often these use the combination of legal letters & numbers to make something that looks a bit like the persons name or the model of car.

Thanks, understood.

While we are at the trivia exchange - over here, in Skodaland, private plates had not been possible until a year or so ago. Still, some people had "nice" or "interesting" plates. It basically screamed "I bribed someone" so sane people - if presented with a random "nice" plate at the register - would beg the lady to give them something else.
