Dashcam / Install suggestions

Hi everyone

I have had a few close calls recently (motorway muppets) and have decided I want to get a dashcam / in car CCTV.

I did an e-bay / Amazon search and to say there are a lot of options is an understatement.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent solution (happy to pay about £100).

My next question is how best to power it without having wires everywhere.

I have an Estate mark II, L&K with the 170 engine.

Any suggestions / help most welcome.

Regards

I use a mini 0805 for my current car. Hid the wire behind the windshield curtain(upper side of the roof trim), behind the A pillar and straight into the fuse box (windows fuse).

The video is good and it powers on with the car and shuts down with the car.

I'll do the same on the Superb.

I have KOONLUNG K1S 2-CHANNEL FULL HD + GPS - connected to the socket in the boot and DVR hidden in the side compartment :) expensive but I think well worth it - just two small cameras instead of large and bulky extra device. And as I have extra switch for the back socket - I can turn it on and off anytime :) plus with 128gb MicroSD card - about 30h of recording for both cameras in full hd :)

This is also a very useful thread...

And this too if fitting it yourself...

I've had a Mobius fitted in my Superb for a couple of years / 100,000 miles now and it has been faultless.

I had a Mini 0805 hardwired in. I am not a fan of the firmware and it requires a lot of nuturing to keep working. I have added a CPL mind you and that mad a massive difference! ANy dash cam should have a CPL fitted.

I believe the DDPai M6+ is currently TechMoans favourite. I shall be purchasing one soon!

Use a Nextbase 512G in the Fabia and that is good but quite a bit bigger

We have the same unit on our MKII. It's excellent and very easy to hard wire too, like you, with a spur off the fuse box. Edited by numskull

I've fitted a Mobius in the Superb. I find it has great image quality both in daylight and at night time. I drive on unlit motorways to and from work and it basically picks up anything you could see yourself at the time when viewing the footage back. It's only issue is that it doesn't have a screen for viewing footage on the camera itself but in my case that is not a problem. I have powered it from a switched live in the fusebox so it automatically powers up and powers down when the ignition is turned on & off. The cabling is run up the drivers side 'A' pillar and along the front of the roof lining to the camera itself.

When I fitted it I paid a grand total of £86.95 for absolutely everything required.... including a crimping tool and crimps!!!! So if you had some of the required items already it would be less.... And prices may have dropped now anyway for some items.

Anyway a link to my install..... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/321367-waveydaveys-superb-twindoor/?p=4130462
