Day time and rear lights?

Recommended Posts

What to you mean by that?

On my 2016 with LED taillights there are only one channel per side.

Leuchte 23 and Leuchte 24.

Thats all the LEDs in each taillight, on, off or dimmed, all together.

Turn signal, braking lights, backup lamp and rear fog lights has of course theyr own channel, but that is not what we are talking about, is it?

What I meant was for him to recheck the coding as you need to do both sides of the car, one code no longer puts a pair of light on like non MQB cars.

Further to my question above:-

"Does anyone know how to code tail lights on (but without dash illumination like the Scandanavian coding) with DRLs for cars equipped with LED tails as standard. All the codings that I have tried only illuminate a single LED in the tails."

I should probably have stated "All the codings that I have tried INCLUDING THOSE LISTED ON BRISKODA only illuminate a single BLOCK of LEDs in the tails.

Hi!

Was somebody able to activate the rear lights on an Octavia2 FL (2012)?

I have normal, bulb type DRL and tail lights. My BCM is 1K0 937 087 Q with 0651 sw.

With VCDS my workshop specialist already tried to modify the byte18 in the long code in central electrics, but no luck (it was also hard to restore to original setup).

In VWVortex forum turos_88 wrote, that he managed to do it, but only with BCM change (but no details).

So no way via coding/adaptation?

You're in the wrong section... You want the MK2 Octavia section :)

Yes, you can have rear lights on with the DRL. It can't be coded using VCDS on the MK2 FL, instead you need VCP or ODIS-e to directly edit the lighting configuration.

Yeey, there is still hope :sun:  Sorry for the wrong section.

Do you know how to do it with VCP? I asked my specialist whether he has VCP or ODIS and he does (VCP), but he has no idea how to modify the configuration.

Is there any how-to or documentation available for this mod in VCP?

The basic process is described here:

If you need help checking/modifying the BCM1 file, post it here. You can use notepad to open it and just copy the contents.

I have followed the mentioned how-to, but no luck.

Today I tried VCP and VAGHelper out, but no effect. I cheked in the DRL checkbox for the rear position lights, but nothing has changed. Is there any other trick to make it work?

For example I've even waited for the BCM to go to sleep for a minute after coding, but also no effect.

It uses multiple channels for the tail light, try:

It should work immediately if I remember correctly.

Hmmm. So you recommend to also change the position/stop and positon/fog outputs. Doesn't it mean that the stop and fog light will also act like a DRL?

Unfortunately I have to wait at least one week with the actual test, because I couldn't make an appointment to the VCP specialist earlier.

Each channel can have multiple functions with up to two different brightness levels depending on function.

For instance, the stop light channel (C4/A26) was originally set as 39341A.

This will function as coming/leaving home, stop light, parking light, position light. It's lights at ~25% for most functions but 100% for the stop light.

We added the DRL function to get 3B341A, this will also be at 25% to match the normal tail light brightness.

If you don't do all the extra channels, you'll only get the side bulbs (W3W/W5W) lit for DRL. The top and bottom won't be lit.

Exactly. Too many (one is too many) driving around in the dark on just DRLs or - sometimes worse - sidelights.

Sidelights really irritate me this (any) time of year - it's like most are just TOO LAZY to flick that light switch round one more notch. Yet many seem to mange to get their fog lights on with their sidelights. So cool.

This mod. Scandinavian DRLs is dead easy to do with OBDeleven.

My last 2 cars had auto lights, my current SEAT Leon FR does not. I'd got used to the auto lights and noticed I was forgetting to manually switch on the lights, so set it to Scandinavian DRLs, now the DRLs and the tail lights are on permanently, so I never drive without lights, obviously I can see when I need the headlights so switch those on manually

The problem I have now is forgetting to switch off dipped beam in the mornings!

Today I tried it, but no luck :-(

I've also tried to activate the rear right fog light, but also no luck.

It seems, that although the eprom accepts the new code, nothing changes.

There is one more thing, what might have influence: byte18 in the BCM.

It was 00 at the very first time, when my VCDS specialist had read it out. Than he changed it several times and the last value since then is 39, which is not even in the byte18 drop down list, but the lights are working as the have to (in factory mode).

Should I change byte18 back to 00?

The commonly published method to enable rear lights with DRLs uses changes to just Leuchte23SL and Leuchte24SL and this method appears to be for both Skoda and VW.

Although this works with some cars it appears to be incomplete for some others. For example I have now established that for a MK7 Golf with LEDs changes are required to Leuchte23SL, Leuchte24SL, Leuchte20BR, Leuchte21BR, and Leuchte27NSL

Yes, it needs to be 00 :-)

HURRAY! With Byte18=00, VCP works.

So I have rear drls now, but the licence plate light is also active as drl. Any idea how to disable it?

Or should I simply let it shine?

As far as I know, you can't get rear DRL without licence plate lights  on the MK2. I've left mine on :)

Ok, I'll do so. Thanks for the great support.
