(v) RS badge origin?

Featured Replies

What does the "v" stand for as in Octavia vRS...?

I thought it was derived from the accent above the "S" in the word Skoda (see skoda emblem)

Enlighten me...

was my first question on vwvortex ( just been back to see my first ' i'm interested in buying an RS' post! )

informed by john ( stopani ) at the time that the 'V' is from the motorsport division and stands for 'victory'

Hello Huck mate, Happy New Year!

Thanks for that.

I still think that the green V (with the red and chrome) on the grille of the RS, looks exactly like the one above the S in Skoda. Have a look..

Intentional or not it looks cool...

I wonder what the Czech for victory is??

Victory = V

I've always though is was to do with the accent over the S (from reading it in a motoring rag; think it was Autocar sometime ago).

It stands for 'very upset Ford got there first'.

Huck,

Just had my original reply confirmed by Skoda Motorsport see attached mail:-

greetings from myself and the Skoda company as well. Thank you for your

message. We are pleased with your interest in Skoda Motorsport. The `V`

stands really for Victory.

Best regards,

If you listened to Colin and Ian, they would have you believe that it stands for "Vanity" :)

How on earth can such a small piece of plastic generate so much discussion? Aren't there more important things going on in the world, such as the demise of the page 3 girl in The Sun?

I've never heard them called *that* before!

hehe, that or "vain" - the number of times you guys discuss seat cleaners!

..actually, a little bird told me that the RS seats are not as much "part leather" as you may think, apparently the "inside" of the sides is leather but the "outside edge" of the seat is just leather effect? Can anyone confirm or deny?

(and yes, I'm still gonna call it an RS :D )

The rear seats are certainly not all leather i.e the vertical sections not in contact with your ar*e are more like a velour clothbut you only notice this if you fold the seat up to create more space. I think this is what you may be speaking about Ian.

I guess it must be interest to other Skoda owners otherwise the question wouldn't have been asked and the post wouldn't have received so many hits.

I thought that the Briskoda Skoda Forum was for asking and discusssing items relating to Skodas?

Just for information its not just the v in the plastic used for the RS badge its the V for victory that is used in the Skoda Motorsport V// Logo with great pride by Skoda Motorsport.

Ouch!

Told you didn't it :)

Don't mess with the stopan1jerminator, he'll be back.

Asvidistra Baby.

So its really a skoda motorsport badge then and not just exclusive to the RS.

I might get one for the front of my fabia. 8)

Well said, Fabia TDi! My sentiments entirely. I had already but a v in front of the 4x4 beneath my signature to make the point, but our vRS members have been too busy waving to each other to notice. :D

I noticed, you poor man...

Im back, Below is a Skoda Motorsport Service van taken at the Bohemia Rally last year notice the v// is white as their service vehicles etc are green which is why the calipers are green on the RS but lets not discuss that one  Also is a mechanic overall displaying the logo.

On Skoda motorsport shirts caps etc the v is normally green as in the rs badges and the logo on Delac's rally jacket however one on the T shirts I bought last year the v is also white so im not sure if the colour has changed. The last photo is of a Fabia notice the V is green on this vehicle. Booring stuff I know but there we have it.

Nice photos stopan1j :D

Seeing that picture of the fabia in motorsport livery reminds me of when I visited the Czech Republic a year ago...

There were simply loads of tuned skodas.... some looked great, others were cheap n cheerful and definitely not conservative looking.

It was a bit of an eye opener and they certainly have great passion for their skodas!

I shall be asking my skoda dealer about ordering a skoda motorsport grill badge :!:

Hi john,

Where can i get one of those VW TDI Skoda Motorsport vans. 8)

Sits Back, drink in hand and waits for DGWs reply.

Des

Get some finger paints and white paper (wall lining paper should do), and make your own decorations up for your van using the photos as a guide.

We aim to please.
