Debadging VW wheel trims

Featured Replies

Hi, has anyone out there had any experience with debadging? I have just bought a set of winter tyres for my MY16 Octavia, which are mounted on steel rims. I also got a set of trims to hide the wheels but these were previously on a VW (appear to be a genuine VW wheel trim) and so have the slightly domed logo in their centers - can anyone tell me how to remove these logos without damaging the wheel trims?

There may be some holes behind the VW badge, if so push the badges off from the rear, if not use a plastic trim removal tool (or if you must a screwdriver wrapped in a thick rag) and gently prise them off from the front

Thanks for that Gizmo, I did wonder if that was what the two small holes were for, but I found that the badge wouldn't shift when I tried pushing through them. Are these logo badges fixed with some sort of adhesive, will judicious use of a heat gun help?

They are usually either glued on or have double sided foam tape on them, a heat gun on the inside of the trim may help.

I'd say leave 'em with no trims on, but then I'm into banded steelies so what do I know lol

I was tempted to do that - but the black rims do look a little too much Government issue Crown Vic.
