Play Hidden File on SD Card

Featured Replies

I've had trouble ripping and copying and playing some files. Most are OK. I use the Windows Media Player to rip to mp3 format.

Some files seemed to disappear. I eventually found there was an option on my PC to view hidden files in My Music- and there they all were.

But when I copied to an SD car for use in the Bolero the files have become invisible again. If it helps a diagnosis, the file in question is playable, after being copied to an Android phone, when opened directly from the folder, but it is not visible when using a music app. I ripped all my CDs using the same set up am puzzled.

I'd reformat and start again.

For some reason WMP is marking the files as hidden, copying them also copies the hidden attribute which is why they are not visible when the SD card is in the Bolero.

IMHO the easiest thing to do is to remove the hidden attribute on the PC (unless you can be bothered to figure out why Windows is setting the Read-only attribute).

For each hidden file:

- right click on the file, you should see the Hidden box ticked at the bottom left of the box that pops up, untick this box and click on OK.

Then when you copy the files to the SD card they should all be visible in the Bolero.

or from the command prompt (say it is showing as G in explorer):

attrib g:\*.* -h -s -r /s

-h = remove hidden attribute

-s = remove system attribute

-r = remove read-only attribute

/s = sub directories

GUI operations are far to slow!!
