Is it true that the RS version of the Octavia has more powerful struts on the boot?

 

The guy who I am buying parts from says it's just a marketing thing so they can sell the RS struts more expensively. In a way it does make sense that they would be stronger because of the spoiler on the RS but the marketing thing also makes perfect sense too. :(

 

I am interested in this because I am willing to fit springs on my new struts to help the boot open by itself when I release it from the remote.

Bought an aftermarket set of shocks for the VRS version and installed them together with springs (the red ones) you can find them on ebay quite easily.

 

Altogether it works, but only when temperatures are above 7-8 degrees
