Amundsen lockup problem

Featured Replies

Hello, I had a problem with my Amundsen infotainment system this morning - the whole system became completely un-responsive when I started up, right from the "low fuel warning, 50 mile range remaining - find fuel station / cancel" - the message would not cancel on the touch screen, nor would any of the "hard" buttons on either side of the display work, so I could not change the display to any of the other screens on the Amundsen (Nav, Radio, Media, Phone, Etc.)  - It is possible that the battery voltage was a bit low, because the stop - start was disabled, but I was unable to check the "vehicle status" on the screen touch button to confirm this. This problem was present for the whole 10 mile trip to work, but the system resumed normal operation on the way home this afternoon. The engine start at 0400hrs this morning appeared normal - no "low battery" message was displayed at the time. Has anyone seen this problem before? I have searched the Amundsen topics, but I don't see anything similar on there.

Sometimes happens if it's a cold morning. Fairly common. Press and hold the power on button for 5 seconds, and the unit will do a reset. If it still acts up, clean the screen. Sometimes a new screen is required, and or the control unit in the glovebox.

Thanks for that Moggy, although it wasn't really all that cold out in this part of the world this morning (no frost) - it this problem caused by low temperatures, or is it low battery voltage?

had this with mine - in  addition it would lock up when im on the telephone and another call comes in. sat nav also locked up from time to time during route calculation. have updated to firmware 0490 (see separate thread) which was extraordinarily straightforward following the instructions there. it hasn't happened since the update. could not associate the problem with either low battery or cold weather

Thanks John, I will have a look at that firmware update.

I have taken delivery on the 23rd october of a 63 plate vrs diesel. My media system locks out COMPLETELY including the hard buttons around the sides; after start up AND when you then turn on the heated rear and front screens, the fan speed set to hi and temperature set to maximum heat!!
If you turn off the items i have just mentioned, the radio comes back under your control. It also changed stations of its own accord, whence those items were first turned on. It should be noted though- every time it happened THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 3'C OR LESS!!

In 2 years of ownership (and circa 75K of miles) I had this happen 4 times.  first 3 times were really cold mornings - I did make an adjustment on the HU somewhere to do with sensitivity of screen.  Id read the article on a website but dont know where ... sorry.

It then happened once again randomly but couldnt put it down to anything in particular.
