SEAT Brembos as an upgrade?

Featured Replies

All this talk of fitting 312mm VAG disks and calipers got me thinking. how about using the Brembos from the Seat? I think they are just on the Leon Cupra? Does anyone know if they would fit?

Yup, I had them on my Fabia.

Bolt on fine, however will not fit under 16" wheels

Or some 17"s, not the diameter thats the problem but how wide the callipers are, the wheels Lummox shows above (TT competitions) or S3 wheels are perfect for the job.

Yum Yum :) How Much and did they come direct from the Stealers???

BTW Do you need owt else apart from Discs, Callipers and Pads or do they just bolt on???

The kits are alot cheaper than genuine SEAt supplied parts.

You need -

2 calipers

2 mounting brackets

2 discs

1 set of pads

two braided lines

Have a word with Bill (Badger5) his contact info is on site.

Cheers Lummox!!!

Beefy... i have a couple of used Brembo`s in the garage have worn 323x28 holed discs and worn pads, also have new Brembo pads to go in them come with braided lines and carriers.....was thinking of putting on my Octy but wheels are 18" and Audi offset, ET43 i think so they wont fit......Will fit behind 17`s but you will need a spacer 6-10mm IIRC

Phil  Open to offers

* cough

With 10mm spacers

Just put a thread up having a winge about my brakes on my new Fabia VRS - can someone just clarify - when people say under 16" do they mean smaller than 16s, or actually physically wont fit under 16s?

Will not fit IN 16" wheels

Phil

thought so - ****.

EDIT - it wont even let me type ar$e :(

If the Brembo kit's a bit extreme for you, the 312mm upgrade should fit the bill nicely. Do a search in the 'For Sale' thread

Thing about upping to 312mm is that 312mm are found on lots of VAG cars, so theres lots of choice for aftermarket 312mm disks if you're braking requirements go up even further,.

:)

Send an e-mail to [email protected] and ask him what's available Brembo wise, as he's a retailer... usually found selling to the Seat lot, but, if it's available, he can get it!!

The Leon Brembo's are the Cupra R ones, and run 323mm disks. I know that the (4 stud) Ibiza Brembo's run smaller disks, but it's whether there's a smaller set-up on a 5 stud, which Bill will know...

What about a direct upgrade for the Furb vRS but witjout going up a size, ie

Blackdiamond / Ferodo

EBC / Pagid

ATE / Pagid

You can have drilled, grooved or combi, and coupled to a good set of pads would be ample for a stock vRS or a mildly tuned one.

I've been investigating what options are out there in 288mm, so I'd only have to buy disks and pads and not a complete replacement set-up, and although limited there are a few that would suit the Fabia vRS

Anyone got any comnmenst on this as opposed to / comapred with a 312mm upgrade ???

:)

ibiza cupra (mk4)now runs ap racing calipers, with 312x25mm discs, straight bolt on fitment iirc, but quite a fair bit more expensive than brembo's.

IMHO the 312mm kit is perfectly OTT for the Fabia vRS, it fits the standard wheels and if painted looks like it could be 'stock'.

Also you get tons of choice on discs and pads with that size as already mentioned.

Unless you are a track-driving person there just doesn't seem much point to go beyond making the upgrade for an improved feel & spare performance - the tyres will probably make a bigger difference in reality.

That said, the do look good :)

Interesting as AP's racing line are not normally that resistant to dust, grime and salt ingress, requiring frequent TLC.

The SEAT Sport (AP) calipers are dust sealed road calipers.... not racing ones.

I have a brand new pair to get rid of, which will bolt direct onto 312mm disks.

Larger pad area than with Brembo's, and a larger caliper.

They're lug mounted so only with onto cars running 312mm disks....

Caliper £225 each for the pair I have. (£270+vat each retail)

ap calipers or get married this year????i wonder which one she will decide on

You could always play it as, if you can't stop the car in time, there wouldn't be a mariage...

Hi Lummox, Did you need spacers to Clear your TT Compos with these brakes???

Cheers

Steve

Nope, TT comps, TT six spokes, Audi S3 and SEAT Leon R/Ibiza Cupra rims all clear brembos without spacers.
