Columbus Theft, Is anything missing?...Android Upgrade

Lets keep an eye for any new units popping up :) B t hat new members or ebay, if not already sold.

Seems like the speed of extracting the unit might be important to the thieves, so anything that looks like it might slow them down is potentially useful. Anything that makes it less sellable - like the UV marker or engraving is also helpful. Perhaps a window sticker informing potential thieves of these security measures might just help a bit too. I guess being a bit more careful about where we leave our cars [if we have that luxury] might just help too. Possibly also if there was any way of attaching those security cables that are used on laptops...

I like the idea of a window sticker. Anyone know where we could get some professionally produced? I acknowledge that they may not be the ultimate deterrent but could have some effect?? I'm surprised that the supplier of the special screws doesn't appear to supply appropriate stickers.

Apparently a practiced thief can be gone with one of these in less than 2 minutes. You'd have to park in a very busy area for that to be a deterrent.

The anti-theft screws would work well with a window sticker up to a point. The potential downside is that I'm sure some thieves at least are reading forums such as this and will be aware of this screw kit. It wouldn't be too much extra effort for them to bring along the required bits to open them: this is where parking in a busy/well lit area would work since they'd have less time to work and they might just write it off as too risky.

Had my Columbus from Superb 11 robbed in Jan 2017. Mid afternoon outside my house!! Never knew this was happening on a large scale!! Live between Leeds/Wakefield/Bradford. Had car a few years and had it serviced and also other work done at Skoda dealership. You would have thought Skoda/VW etc., who clearly know about this, would have been handing out warning/advisory leaflets out to their customers when cars are brought in to their service areas??? Reading other blogs, dating back to 2013, it's happening all over UK and Europe! One in Germany said police there were advising not to fit them! Car is now in having replacement fitted via insurance. When it's ready I'll ask them to take it out again as I don't want to risk another episode and I'll store it until I sell the car. Sad, but the main dealers appear to be doing nothing to prevent this.

Is this just a superb thing where they are taking the Columbus units from?

or across all models?
