Induction Kit for 2012 VRS Octavia TDI CR 170

Featured Replies

Hello. Was just wondering if anyone has had an induction kit fitted to their TDI vRS Octavia? If so do you have any advice on which type to get and how to install it.

Many thanks Adam

Are you after power or just noise. If power then Id stay std with paper filter and get a remap. Or noise then you could go with a K&N, Pipercross kit.

The std setup isnt too bad for a simple remap and allows plenty of air to flow.

A few threads on here about the same thing. It's not worth it unless you are planning big BHP.

Most aftermarket induction kits reduce power compared to the stock intake because they remove the stock cold-air intake and put the intake inside the hot engine bay. Best sticking with the stock setup.

There is a few kits for the PD170 not sure on the CR170 most are very expensive and dont give much of a return in performace if any at all !

spend the money on a decent remap its nearly the same price and just do regular changes of the standard air filter.

preferably i am after more power but if its just noise thats not a bad thing either.

It's been said time and again regards a so called 'performance air filter/induction kit' fitted to a TDI. A search of the above results with all manner of posts citing opinion AGAINST one. Unless of course, you plan on a near overhaul of the engine and as said, big BHP increase.

The return in price vs performance is negligable and if you want the underneath of a derv bonnet to sound like wasps going mad then go for it. Don't get a K&N paper filter either. Not worth it.

Deffo not for me. Just my honest opinion. Feel free to disagree. Read up, do your research and draw your own conclusions.
