Mr muscle

Featured Replies

How long is this working for others. I've done this twice now and looks like it needs doing again as I've gone into safe mode today. Could there be another issue as once I turn the car off on on it clears and boosts fine.

Have you checked all your Vacuum pipes for splits?

Having to turn the car off then on to retain boost is, in my history, a sign of a knackered turbo.

I'm having to do the mr muscle every 5-6 weeks. Once done the cars great. How can there be so much crud getting in the turbo. All the hoses are good. I'm wondering if the actuator bar is corroded and gets deposits on it causing it to stick

No idea as not got a diesel but are you 'exercising' the turbo once done?

Once a year ( some time every summer when its warm & dry :)  ), also cleanout EGR & inlet mainfold @ same time.

However I do add Dipetane (https://www.dipetane.com/) to the fuel and try to run it at not less than 2k RPM even in towns

Yeah I think the main problem is I do about 6 miles a day so may need to start taking it for a blast down the motorway now and again to use the turbo more

That may be your issue

Is it using a lot of oil ? as it could be the variable vanes are getting clogged up with burnt oil ??

Doesn't use any oil drives perfectly wheb the turbos clean loads of power to the red line in every gear. I don't think the turbos on its way out as it pull hard and smooth as silk

When I tested a Golf MkIV 115 TDI many many years ago the vanes were stuck on the turbo causing limp mode.  The dealer told me he would take the turbo out, leave to soak in petrol overnight then refit.  If that didn't fix the problem then he'd fit a new turbo.

Well, that certainly worked, in the 2 years I had it there wasn't one more instance of the vanes getting stuck!

Mr Muscle is only a temporary solution, it sounds like you need more drastic cleaning.
