I think the current screen fits in very well and I like the buttons. Much easier to use when you are driving. Touching the screen whilst driving is really just the same as using a mobile phone. Wonder how long it will be before we are banned from using touch screens, although enforcement will be impossible!

   The likes of Android auto with Amazon music prevents you from doing full scrolls through play lists when on the move compared to when parked... Maybe we will see more retrictions in the future. ..

surely the car will have steering wheel mounted BUTTONS for changing the volume ? so having a flat screen with no buttons won't matter

One thing I've noticed too....

 

The new 9.2" Columbus unit works great in LHD cars (buttons down the left side) but it's the same unit that's put into RHD cars! You'll be having to lean over...stupid!

agree..

 

but then the amount of RHD cars which are compromised due to LHD designs are all too common... ie.. handbrake positions, Idrive controllers, windscreen wipers (e60), ignition,  clusters, etc etc...

I was racking my brains about the E60 wipers as I owned one, but they swing the other way don't they?! Pardon the expression ha.

Yup - on the e60 they swing the LHD way with the idrive controller offset to the left and handbrake -- lazy BMW.

Why don't all manufactures move to clap hands wipers? 

My Focus had these and they are much more efficient, clearing an equal amount on both sides.

Hopefully they will keep the "wet" DSG6 in the 220/280 TSI versions.

German Skoda forum says they are going to announce MY2018 spec tomorrow, but don't know if that includes UK?

I hope not, because its not that good as i hoped i would be... had a 190hp 7 DSG Kodiaq on a drive and it wasn't that smooth as the 6 speed... also some Reviews of the Kodiaq say the same, but could be just the first build ones

The Tiguan / Kodiaq 7-speed is a wet clutch DSG.

Yes it will be a "new" wet DSG 7 for many engines. Same as the Golf 7 Facelift and probably also the Passat. Less drivetrain resistance = better fuel economy, one more gear and also many more improvements. Not the same gearbox as Tiguan or Kodiaq where you find a DQ500 DSG.

I contacted Skoda international and UK. Skoda Int confirmed 9" Columbus. Skoda UK have said the new brochure is correct and that the new L&K will not be available with Smart Light Assist, even though it is still on the configurator, and available on all other trim levels.

Why will SLA not be available to L&K models? Does that mean no upgraded headlights with the 7 additional LED strips for L&K or is the L&K getting something better perhaps?

I ordered an L&K with SLA that is very unlikely to be built before wk22, the website configurator now says SLA with lane assist and Blind Spot Detection £100, 2nd two used to be listed as standard kit on the L&K. Skoda UK on Facebook and brochure say it isn't available. So who knows what is going on.

Here are all the changes for MY2018, in France at least. Most should be the same in all markets, although some market specific differences may occur.

• Glass design for the infotainment systems (Bolero, Amundsen and Columbus)
• Screen size increase from 8" to 9.2" for Columbus
• Screen size increase from 5" to 6.5" for Swing
• Smartgate (code EI9) is being replaced by Smartlink+ (which includes Smartgate and Smartlink) as on Octavia facelift
• New In-Car Communication functionality for Bolero, Amundsen and Columbus infotainment systems (as on the Kodiaq)
• Removal of option for TV tuner + DAB (option code QU1)
• Change of gearbox from DSG6 to DSG7 (DQ381) for the following engines / transmission combos:
  • 2.0 TDI 150 bhp FWD starting from week 27/2017
  • 2.0 TDI 190 bhp FWD starting from week 32/2017
  • 2.0 TDI 190 bhp AWD starting from week 36/2017
• Design change for the cooling liquid cap
• Maneuver Assist which activates the brakes as soon as an obstacle is detected (uses the parking sensors and the Park Assist ones):
  • Week 6/2017 for reversing only. Can someone that had their car built after week 6/2017 and took delivery of their car confirm the presence of this functionality? Please take care when testing this to avoid any damage to your car.
  • Week 22/2017 both for reversing and moving forward.
• New chrome trim under the doors for L&K (option code 7M7)
• Starting from week 27 19" Sirius silver rims are replaced by Acamar anthracite rims (no code for now)
• Phoenix 19" rims (PJ7, PJ8 and PJV codes) renamed to Trinity
• New black roof headlining option on L&K available with brown (BR) and black (EX) leather interiors
• New option for driver's seat with massage function on Style and L&K trim levels
  • For Style only in combination with electrically adjustable front driver’s seat with built in memory (option code PB1) centilated leather seats (PHC option code)
  • No additional option needed on L&K
• Re-adding the ivory leather interior for the Style trim level (BS + PL1 option codes)
• Availability of auxiliary heating (PHD option code). For whatever reason France was one of the few markets in which this option was not available.
• Clean Air function for Climatronic. I don't have more details what this entitles (most likely very similar to the implementation available on VW vehicles), seems to come in standard.
• Disabling of interior alarm is now done from a menu on the infotainment system instead of a physical button
• Removal of L&K logo from the gearshift levers on L&K
• Skoda Connect with E-Call and Care Connect as on Octavia facelift and Kodiaq
• Business trim level gets 2 changes:
  • 16" Orion rims get replaced by 17" Triton rims
  • Silver roof rails (estate only)
• New Style+ trim level (no code for now) that includes:
  • Adaptive Cruise Control  up to 160 km/h
  • Traffic Sign Recognition
  • Lane Assist and Blind Spot Detection
  • Rear-view parking camera
  • Electrically-operated boot
  • Rear window wiper (hatch only)

Interestingly enough there is no mention of replacing the Superb's gearshift leaver by that of the Kodiaq as shown on the one Superb that was on display at the Geneva motor show. I sure hope they gave up on that as I very much prefer the current gearshift lever to that of the Kodiaq. New configurator should be available to dealers this Friday (14th of April).

Unfortunately not, there is currently no indication of that. I asked the Skoda rep at the Geneva Motor Show about the possible availability of active info display on MY2018 and their answer was negative. I guess that it will come with the facelift. Someone was saying (I don't remember whether I read it on this forum or elsewhere) that the existing wiring harness already allows for the use of an active info display. Let's hope that it's something that can be easily retrofitted once it's available.
