Sat nav/dab unit

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

appologies if there is a thread already for this.

as you may know I've been looking to purchase a Fabia Mkii VRS and had a couple of questions regarding the satnav/radio/headlights.

I've seen around companies that can retrofit the Columbus and Amundsen systems with or without DAB. Does anyone recomend one system over the other, how much is should cost to fit and who should fit it? My local Skoda use http://myautotec.co.uk/contact-us/ and they charge £600 / £750 with DAB for the Amundsen. They also charge £400 for heated seats.

my other question was regarding the vRS headlights. What type are they and are they any good? If not what is the best way to improve them i.e. New brighter bulbs?

many thanks everyone.

First things first don't go to dealers for units.

Go see rustynuts on here he's highly recommended, I and many others on briskoda have bought units from him for a reasonable (cheaper than eBay) price.

If he's local or passing he will fit and code it for you.

Columbus is the best OEM unit you can get up to yet, Amundsen being the 2nd.

The headlights on the mk2 are pretty dire, many people have put HID's in and give a better output. Just don't buy your cheap kit or you'll be paying twice. I bought mine from HID's direct over a year ago, they were around £60-70 and are still going strong now.

Are Hid kits legal? Safe? Invalidate warenty? Look easy enough to fit.

may just go for a set of night breakers for now.

i wonder if I can take my led DLR lights out of my citigo and stick them in the Fabia side lights?

If you don't have the right headlight unit then yes they are illegal. Mine has passed 2 MOT's now (one last Friday) with them in.

Very interesting thanks. I will bear that in mind. £70 for hid kit vs £35 set of night breakers......hid kit is very tempting indeed.
