Bye Bye Corrado Red

Featured Replies

I think Skoda is saying that they're only really interested in fleet sales. Or most of their buyers really are that conservative. The sales manager in Croydon who sold me my red car, replaced it with a Dragon Green Sportline hatch very much going against regional advice. He has an electric blue Octavia (don't know the colour name) and a black Sportline hatch. (Makes a nice group on his showroom floor.) "I like bold colours," he said. I wonder what he thinks about the new trend?

  • From the UK configurator for Superb, what a complete barrel of blandness:

  • There's nothing wrong with silver as a standalone colour. There's a wide range of silvers and some are quite beautiful. But these days, how do you find yours in a car park?

I took a look at the German configurator to see if they've dropped Corrado Red which indeed they have.

Of interest is that they've added some additional special colours that they call "individual": Raspberry Red, Space Violet, Nightfire Blue, Highland Green, Patina Grey and Plum Blue.

I've always liked blue, especially the Race Blue (that's your electric blue, @freelunch ;)), but Petrol/Lava Blue never fully floated my boat. Nightfire Blue, however, would probably jump to my first choice with Space Violet making the choice harder.

I realise the Czechs have a huge range and those shown on the German configurator are but a small sample of them. Until now the Germans had the same colour choices as the UK with one additional white, Laser. If they're getting more options in Germany now, hopefully the UK might follow soon.

Yellow is available, but for some reason they call it Dragon green?

Just looked and found it, but only on the Sportline...lets hope my company car budget will stretch that far in 2019...

(Looks good though!)

It should have been Corrida Red and not Corrado Red. As you've all been too kind to pick me up on that, I'll do it myself. :wall:

And it's still available for the Octavia VRS!

Edited by BillyJim

It's still red.

Don't beat yourself up over a non-existent colour! :D

I've got the colour in question and hadn't even noticed. London Bus Red, I call it.

Add some yellow patches, put a ladder on the roof, and you can go fight fires too!

I was wondering what to do about my grill...

The Raspberry Red looks interesting.  Although I do like my Corrida Red I'd have preferred a metallic red, however, all the "individual" colours listed are priced at the same point as the Dragon Green on the Sportline (850 euros on the German configurator which would mean £820 here if the pricing is kept the same).  That's quite some premium in order to get a more interesting colour.

I was somewhat annoyed at having to pay extra for Corrida Red which I believe should've been a free option (the same goes for Candy White).

50 Shades of Grey for U.K. Buyers then.  Škoda UK should hang their heads in shame.  It's as if everything is aimed at business sales and private punters are ignored.

Was red never free then? Could have sworn I saw it free but maybe not.

No charge for Red over here in Ireland as it is non-metallic. Currently have a sportline on order in Red...so now maybe I was lucky to get this!!!

@BillyJim Now I remember why Corrado slipped by me so easily. It was Junior Soprano's name.

@wooyay Yeah, metallic red, like the beautiful Competizione Red you can order on the new Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. It comes as a £1,750 option. Sheesh...

Haha, I did actually check that I wasn't saying/spelling it incorrectly.

And that name is always in my head because I once owned one - even though it was actually blue.

@wooyay

@freelunch

UK configurator has a tasty looking (on the configurator, at least :wondering: ) metallic red for Octy VRS.

Maybe that will come to the Superb????

Corrida Corrado

The VAG independent specialist who serviced my Leon has a Corrado in the current process of having the 2.0 TFSI engine and gear box from a Mk2 Leon being bolted in.   Darth Vader would drive a Corrado.

Sorry, my friend - look again.

Rio Red Metallic, £380

Of course, Rallye Green is THE colour, if you're brave enough.

:D That's Skoda for you.

Facts as known:

-- Described as 'Metallic'

-- Somewhere loosely on the red spectrum

corrida still there on the Rapid also...

I'm hoping that the recent withdrawals of certain colours mean that some new ones may be on the way. I'll be ordering a new MKIII around July time and really wanted something less boring than silver or grey, more practical than white or black.

I'd narrowed down to either Jungle Green or Corrida Red and now both have been withdrawn.
