Bluetooth issue with Samsung Galaxy

Featured Replies

Phone pairs up ok

Incoming calls are fine, can answer using the button on the steering wheel or on the Columbus touch screen.  Doesn't drop off.

Dialling out is fine as long as I dial using the phone handset.  Call goes through the car system and doesn't drop off.  Obviously this is not any use while driving!

My problem comes when trying to dial either using the steering wheel button or on the screen.  Sometimes it works OK but a lot of the time it activates the phone but doesn't hook up with the car.  So the call is made - I can see it dialling - but it's on the handset only.  Person on the other end very confused!   Then the connection drops off, and "trying to reconnect" comes on the screen.  It will eventually connect again but drops off in the same way if I try to call out.

Hoping it's just a phone issue, but does anyone have similar experience of this?

Thanks

Had exactly the same happen with my wife's Samsung J3 but never had it with my old Samsung S3 - beginning to think its a software compatibility issue, but no idea how to resolve it.

Yes I think it's  definitely a compatability issue.

Linked up an older Samsung GT phone today, used it all day and it worked absolutely perfectly.   Operated by steering wheel and screen controls, calls in and out, never missed a beat.

Wonder why the J3 and the Superb don't like each other :(

I have an s7 and will be testing next week

Go into phone settings, on there you will find premium and below BT , select BT, then your phones will work, its just most modern mobiles won't work with premium

Are these the settings on the phone or the Columbus unit in the car?

Yes where is this setting?   Had a look and can't see it

They are in maxi, scroll down to phone select, then scroll down to settings , in settings you will or should find premium or hands free, select hands free, and exit, your phones should automatically connect every time you go into the car, if not go to BT settings on phone and connect , once connected keep BT on, so that it connects every time , depending on your phone signal it can take a few seconds to connect

Take a look in the Superb 2 section, there are so many issues with Bluetooth and Samsung phones, also seems to depend what SIM you have in your Samsung as well.

Found this from a guy who's having the same problem but he has contacted Skoda who have provided a response - will give it try later but not confident at the moment

Thanks for this, but that tip doesn't work.

Tried it this afternoon ....Samsung Galaxy J3 is just the same.  Dialling but not through the car.

Back to my little Samsung Galaxy Ace 3!

Is the J3 just a crappy phone?  Not that impressed with mine.   Best thing about it is the largest screen

Can't see it. If I go into phone on maxidot it just gives me the list of the last calls.

Can't see any reference to this on Columbus either

Do you have an L&K?

Have  you  got full maxi dot  it's between  the  speedo and rev counter,  the controls for it should  be on your  steering  wheel  ,  it should  show  you  in your  manual, your  columbus has nothing  to do with  it

So you have a MKII.  Different system.

Thanks anyway

Hi

If you are still having  problems with  linking  bluetooth to Columbus, try downloading an app called Bluetooth Phonebook from Google Play

not sure if  this is works for Apple,

my problem was the profile pictures on my phone contacts were not displaying on the Columbus phone screen, this app fixed the problem
