What Should Non Spare Wheel Octavia have in boot?

Featured Replies

Just trying to remember what should be in the boot as I'm returning my car this week and had removed the large foam insert shortly after I bought it and sat a spare wheel which I bought separately in that space. Found the foam bit in the garage and am struggling to get it back into the space, mine has the variable load floor which kind of fouls the insert getting back in again, seem to recall it was tricky getting it out in the first place!

Also can't remember which bits came with the spare wheel kit and which were in the car when new, obvious bits to go back are air compressor, locking wheel nut key, wee plastic tong things to get the covers off the alloy. Is there a list or photograph somewhere to show what should be in there?

Mine had a tow hook/ reversable torx screw driver/plastic tweezers for wheel nut caps/ locking wheel key/ tyre goo/ electric pump/ L shaped torx key and some spring thing?

Thanks for that, pretty sure all these things are there or thereabouts!

The spring-thing is used to remove the lower outer grille sections on the front bumper when inserting the towing eye AFAIK. It may also be used for other things, I'm not sure.

Mine has a polystyrene wheel shaped insert, a cigar lighter powered air pump and a towing hook.

Apparently it is also used to remove the inboard plastic trim on the tail light clusters, revealing the fixing screws.

So you mean it shouldn't have this in it?

Do you have to drop down a cog when you crank that up?

Don't seem to notice a lack of power when it is cranked up, but then it is normally cranked up on a motorway cruise, rather than a country road blast.

Think the total power of the system is about 800 watts, about 400 to the front and 400 to the sub

It does explain why I don't reach the quoted fuel economy of the car, and why I have a nice warm boot floor

& it removes the front solid plastic grills to allow removal of the fog lights for bulb access

If you lift the variable floor and lean right in there are a couple of clips underneath that hold it on a metal rod that spans the boot just behind the seats. Once you've undone those you can the remove it completely. Might help you get everything back in.
