What is that black tag on the key? It came attached to the spare key of my Superb and has a sticker on it with some sort of code. My guess is it's used for coding more spare keys in case I'd need more or lost one but I'd appreciate if someone could explain that in detail.

TLV, that is generic photo, so not sure what exactly is on it, but on my original keys sticker is stating end numerals of chasis (VIN) number.

I have a tag just like the one on the photo and like you said, it has the end numerals of my cars' VIN on it. Didn't think of that, thanks for the quick answer!

Interesting, my plastic cover is starting to break up, and the store in your link (Kiwikeyfix.co.nz) is less than 5 mins drive from my house, thanks!

Has anybody thought about changing key fob?

Would it be possible to do straight swap of transponder and board?

FYI - if someone else had same idea

I wanted to duplicate my key, and tried to take new shape key fob (like from Octavia 3) with no luck. As explained by locksmith, there is a different system in place (transponder vs. emulation - if I remembered correctly).

They are not compatible :(
